It's been brought to my attention that my LJ name might have some off-color associations for some folks. Folks with the maturity of a 13-year old boy going through that stage they go through where everything is frought with sexual connotations, I would guess.

So, for the edification of my readers, a whimmydiddle is a hard-carved child's toy

I had no idea what it meant (and, to my shame, I never went looking) but I had a feeling that it was a toy, nonetheless. I think maybe the word "whimmy" had such an association.

LOL - what a coincidence! Just came here from thirdbase's "anonymous" meme, where she'd guessed I was you, and I thought, what a fascinating name, I need to investigate. Hence the anonymity, I apologise. She might follow me. :-D

Weird. I totally thought that you name was either the name of a critter from celtic myth that I had never heard of or something pertaining to making a quilt... I have no idea why.
