Who remembers this post about Sadie, the cat living in an abandoned rowhouse in Baltimore who needs a home? She lives next door to my friends Jill and Yo, who have been feeding her & looking for a home for her. Jill and Yo report Sadie is very sweet tempered and friendly, and they are are in love with her, but they are totally strapped and cannot ( Read more... )

if i wasn't 2500 miles away, i'd be scooping up one of those little ones in a heartbeat. as it is, if you want to send me your snail mail address, i'd be happy to donate to their care and feeding. rainegym at yahoo.

Oh, so tough...

But with a flea infestation already in progress and an uncertain future, I just can't.

I'll keep my ears open, though...

I totally understand. I'm not looking to pressure people who can't take a kitten. But thanks ever so for spreading the word!

oh my. I'll keep my ears open - there's no way I could take one now. The spca has a trap & release spay & neuter program. They were going to charge me 'cause I wanted to keep the cat they were going to help me trap, but it was still a discount rate. If no home for Sadie is found maybe they can help.

I'l go ahead and admit that my knee-jerk reaction is to drive up to Baltimore this Saturday after we give blood, scoop them all up, and get them and their mom out of there.

BUT we don't have that kind of infrastructure set up. Not right now... dammit. Not right now.

Argh.

Yes, but in a month or so, maybe ONE itty-bitty newly-weaned ball of adorableness? Could we throw ALL common sense out the window and save ONE tiny furry life?

Listen to me! Usually I'M the practical one in this relationship. Boy am I at War with myself.

What you said: Argh!

OK, I realize it. Much as it pains me to pass up on one of these little guys, I cannot ask Patchouli and Akasha, both 20 years old and dealing with serious illnesses, to put up with a kitten. I could put up with the cost, chaos and inconvenience for myself; it would be temporary and worth it. But I can't ask Patch & Akasha to make that sacrifice.

One day we will save a kitten in need by welcoming it into Fozzie Corner. Two kittens, likely. Today, alas, is not that day.

*sigh*

Gah! Three cats already. A baby. I... we... just can't.

*wail*

Have they talked to any rescue and/or foster groups? To at least get them out of that hole?

*more wailing*

They tried & could not find a spay-neuter program they could afford. I'm going to start helping hunt or other resources.

I'm emailing you some recommendations from my coworker who is a serious cat-rescue-er, maybe they are some new ones...
