I've not read any other reviews yet, and this may the hundredth one by now, but I wanted to express my initial thoughts on DH before being influenced by anyone else's. This is a long, but pretty damn fair review, at least imo. :)

All I got was attraction. I still don't know why Hermione loves Ron. I know Harry thinks Ginny's beautiful and likes to kiss her, and that Ginny thinks Harry's a hero, but there's not anything other than that I couldn't agree more.

Wearing the locket around their necks and how it affected their spirits was too much like LotR--Sam and Frodo's dramatic trek up to Mordor. Where was it stated that they had to wear it? Or did I miss something? Couldn't they just carry it in Hermione's handy bag?
I think James had an inheritance judging from the money that was left to Harry at Gringotts.
I still don't know why Hermione loves Ron, either.
There's so much going on that I need some time to let it sink in. Maybe more thoughts later.

You're right--the locket wearing was too LotR. I thought that was a bit silly, too.
James did have an inheritance, but JKR has said in interviews that James and Lily's occupations were important and we would find out in the seventh book.
R/Hr? The world may never know. :)
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts after some reflection. Mine were pretty reflexive and I'm sure I'll have others once I reread.

The one thing of yours that jumped out at me was: "There was absolutley no need for the Deathly Hallows in this book."
Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you! I completely agree. It felt like one more subplot that made things needlessly complicated and pulled attention away from the story. She could have used that time to focus on character development.
You wrote: "What an oversight to never have anyone say, "I love you," to Harry in the final book."
I hated the Evil!H/Hr scene but one good thing did come out of it. (I understood it, but I didn't like it) Harry used the 'L' word for the first time in reference to someone and that someone was Hermione. "I love Hermione as a sister" Regardless of the context, he NEVER says that he loves anyone else in any of the books. Not even his future wife.
Oh, and the graveyard scene? Perfect; just perfect.

*tackleglomps you*
I didn't notice that, so thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Happy to :D For me, it was the consolation prize that I tucked away in my shippy heart as I finished the book.

The lack of warmth between Harry and Hermione after Ron left was not consistent with anything we've seen in the first 6 books. At least we got the graveyard scene--that was beautiful.
As I've said before, I would have accepted any pairing that had been well-built. The ones we were left with are full of so many holes, they don't float.
