What are you favorite types of hurt/comfort stories?

 I just finished rereading a couple of old "lost in a snowstorm/must huddle for warmth" types of stories, and it made realize just how much fondness I have for those tropes.

Now, I'm curious to hear what types of hurt/comfort plots other people like?

I've found myself to plots like "taking care of somebody", "unrequited pining", and "learning to be loved".

Ooh, do you have any recs for "learning to be loved" fics? Those types of plots sound right up my alley.

The first thing I thought of was The Little Match Girl, but that's not very comforting. I can't think of anything else offhand but wanted to acknowledge reading the question.
I am reading The Count of Monte Cristo but I don't know if that would count.

Oh, yeah, The Little Match Girl was such a sad story. Very typical of Hans Christian Andersen's work, though, with the suffering child who finds a better life in heaven than on earth. Those types of spiritual themes are very frequent in his writings.

Based on my bookmarks, I apparently have thing for "surviving from traumatic (sexual) experiences, but not with magic dick" sort of fics.

I I'm a sucker for those types of stories, too, and I agree with you for the dislike of healing!cock. I was actually revisiting some rape/recovery fics I enjoyed years back, and I kept cringing at seeing how once the OTP started having sex, the traumatized partner's nightmares/flashbacks/dissociative episodes suddenly ended. :-/

I like any of the "being trapped in a snowstorm or whatever" with either huddling for warmth or taking care of someone
