Mexico

On Point had an excellent show today about immigration. It was taking the approach not of how do we handle the Mexicans that are already here, or how to prevent future illegals, but the bigger picture of what the past 5 years of immigration between the US and Mexico actually means for the two countries. The general consensus of the pundits was ( Read more... )

we could conquer it like iraq. I often wonder why they feel the need to cross illegally, are they that stupid they cannot get into our country legally? and if so what the problem with just killing them? Especially when the form illegal mobs that picket in broad daylight. I don't understand what the real problem in mexico is. I really think it is stupid people and thats all we get from there because i have met a few mexican citizens that don't think mexico is bad at all. So what r these people ruinning from? and why do they feel they should have rights if they don't feel they should follow our laws. I bet if we got rid of welfare and stopped giving stupid worthless people who are bad at life money we would stop seeing people coming to america hoping for a free ride. Maybe people would actually start taking reponsibility for themselves and try to improve their own situation ( ... )

I'm not really sure what exactly you are raging against here. This sounds more like something Brian would say than something I would expect of you. I mean, it was barely coherent (I think the exaggerated extremism, which usually works well for you, caught you up). I'm guessing that your second reply is more informed and better articulated. I think in the end that this post reminds me of when you and I would describe everything as sucky, until Dad told us that we should be able to find a way to communicate what our real issues with the topic were ( ... )

I did go way off topic, I'm totally sorry, but we have been having traffic causing, accident causing and alltogether ridiculous protests around here this week. Thus my initial overblown distaste ( ... )

I would like to hear your opinion. I understand how you probably feel towards me, but its not that i don't think mexicans can be nice people.

To answer your initial questions dan.
I thik we may loose more money taking on their currency than bringing mexico to US standards.
We have huge problems with our schooling too, and i've met educated mexicans.
lastly i don't think the southern neighbors would have quite similar problems. Not just for size matters, but this isn't exactly the most typical behavior in the world except when there is actual combat and wars in regions.

Here is my only question, why don't other strong countries in the world have problems with immigration?

to be completely honest with you, the nonsense you spouted was such crap that I do not feel it is worth my time to bother. You know how if some people try to debate with you and they sound like complete idiots you don't feel it's worth your time or effort to discuss? That's how I feel right now.

i posted on mine journal about this.

But honestly enlighten me M. What do you know that i don't, and beyond the fact that two of my comments were blatently overboard,(as you well know i always make at least one, its a part of how i argue). how is my spouting that much crap? I read up on the topic and still don't disagree with the basic premise of my initial opinion.

To be honest I hadn't thought about the whole currency issue. That is indeed something that would be a tremendous hurdle. For that matter, on the show that I was listening to they were commenting on how Mexico is becoming quite the hotbed for unprepared retirees (Those that aren't going to be able to live on SS alone), as they will be able to relatively maintain their standard of living without having to save much beyond SS. This may smooth out the currency difference, but it is questionable ( ... )
