Character name: John Egbert
Fandom: Homestuck
Timeline: Right from
here.
Age: 13
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: John has access to the ability to "do the windy thing". It's exactly what it sounds like: John can create wind. He can make everything from fierce tornadoes that drill through the ground to a gentle breeze that can levitate objects/people. As god tier he is also apparently immortal and can only die by suffering a "heroic death". Additionally John wields Hammers as his physical weapon. It's deadlier than it sounds.
How would they use their abilities?: John is a goody-two shoes. He's a hero and a nice guy. His powers will be used to protect his friends and nothing more. Okay, and maybe the occasional prank.
Appearance: John is a derpy looking boy with black hair and glasses. He's on the small side, as thirteen year old boys tend to be, and a bit skinny to boot. He currently wears his god tier outfit which is blue and composed of a very long hoodie. The symbol on the front is his symbol as the Heir of Breath. [
hint: he's the guy in blue]
Background/Personality: John is your everyday nice guy. He doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. He greets everyone cheerfully and in a friendly manner. John trusts anyone he meets pretty much immediately but don't take him for a complete push-over. He'll put his foot down when it matters although it takes a hell of a lot. It took several years of relentless trolling from the trolls for John to finally become fed up enough with it to change his chumhandle on the IM client Pesterchum. Yet even then he ended up making FRIENDS with a few of the trolls that caused him so much grief. This is because, as mentioned, John is just a nice guy. He gives everyone a chance and believes no one has any intention of really causing him harm. When he meets people his first instinct is to assume their intentions are good rather than bad. This is a strength and a weakness. As a result he makes a lot of friends and can gain trust easily. He is also just hard not to love.
On the other hand, however, John is too naive and gullible for his own good. Everything his friends tell him he trusts. He doesn't question advice form friends and throughout most of his journey he has been blindly led by others. He has mindlessly gone about doing what he's been told and never once stopped to think what it might mean. Thus he is also somewhat painfully easy to manipulate, which happens to him twice. Both instances result in his death, one which creates a doomed timeline that causes a lot of suffering for his friends and the death of another inadvertently. However John never blames the two trolls who led him to his death. He seems incapable of this as well and actually because really good friends with one of the trolls that knowingly lead him to his death. It isn't in John's nature to hate or blame others. He wants to trust everyone no matter what and so he does just that without thinking much of the consequences.
Friendly and optimistic, John hides nothing and pretty much wears his heart on his sleeve. He isn't hard to read or hard to figure out. Talk to him a few times and you already know everything there is to know about him. He does nothing to hide his quirks, his likes, his mannerisms, his thoughts, his feelings and so forth. Despite how odd some of the aforementioned are, John showcases it all and has no qualms about hiding it. John has a silly side that shines through most predominately. He likes pranking people and cracking jokes. Yet although he's silly most of the time John is perfectly capable of being serious when need be. He is quite heroic and protective of his friends. He would do anything for those he considers his closest friends but this extended doubly to Rose, Dave and Jade.
His friendly nature draws others to him as does his fairly impressive leadership skills, although John himself never thinks of himself as a leader. He thinks of himself only as a "friend" and that's really all he wants to be. A friend that others can trust and depend on. Yet for all John's dopey silliness and apparent cluelessness, he isn't a complete idiot. Smart? Hell no. But a totally idiot? Nope! He picks up things fairly quickly and can be a fast learner when he wants to be. He picks up on the mechanisms of Sburb fairly quickly and is also the most creative with the items he creates, making them both practical and pretty damn cool. John strives to please and if you ask him a favor he will do it, no questions ask. Unless it's something completely unreasonable and stupid.
John is a good kid overall. Not the brightest but certainly the kindest boy you'll ever meet. He wants to make others happy, to protect his friends and just generally tries to always be cheerful and optimistic. Although nerdy with an awful taste in movies, he is a loyal if not often clueless friend with a heart of gold.
Trying to summarize Homestuck in less than fifty pages is like trying to fit a square into a circle. It is a massive story complete with time shenanigans and told heavily through AIM chat logs. One can only offer up the
Homestuck Wiki and wish you god's speed.
The gist of it, however... Is that the story starts on April 13th, the 13th birthday of our protagonist John Egbert. On this day he receives the game discs for a reality altering game known as Sburb. As he and his three other friends, Dave, Rose and Jade, soon discover, it's a game that brings about the end of the world. While playing it with Rose and meteor hurls towards his house. To save him, Rose throws him into the Medium which is essentially the game itself. Upon arriving John is thrown headfirst into the strange mechanics of the world. It's what one imagines the world of a video game would be like. There are monsters called imps everywhere and defeating them raises John's level. He grows stronger, gains cooler gadgets and is able to progress further through the gates toward the goal. The goal of the game is the creation of a new universe. Since playing the game destroys the world, the game's reward is that you create a new world.
Eventually John and friends all make their way into the Medium and begin their own specific quests within the game. John's is to find his missing dad who fell into the Medium with them. Along the way John becomes one of the strongest players of the four kids. He even dies, which allows him to ascend to God Tier. Unfortunately John's session of the game produces the biggest mistake: an unbeatable boss. John himself inadvertently aids in the creation of Jack, a former agent in the game's world Skaia that goes on a murder spree "just for the hell of it". The creation of this boss creates two problems. One, John's game session becomes doomed and not winnable. Two, Jack destroys the session of another: the trolls from the planet Alternia.
As a result John and his friends find themselves badgered and then eventually helped by the twelve trolls that played the game session that their created Jack destroyed. In a final twist, the trolls are the ones who created Earth and the universe it resides in. With the trolls semi-helping John and his friends, the kids ultimate goal is to find a way to beat Jack for good and somehow win the game despite all odds being against them.
Have you read up on how the game works?: Affirmative. The journal is called the Flaming Ferret and you can get money by missions, stealing or using the starter wage.

3rd person sample:
When John looked up at the night sky dotted with stars he wondered where they came from. They weren't the same here on Skaia as they had been on Earth, of course. Somehow John knew this even if he looked up at them and saw no difference. He liked to entertain the thought that they were, in fact, the exact same stars and that his friends were looking at the same ones too. He thought about them a lot lately. Rose, Dave, Jade... even Karkat and Vriska now. Vriska had sounded so upset and who knew if Karkat was even okay. As for his three human friends, well... John knew they were just fine but he still worried. A part of him wished he could see them and he wondered if it was possible to visit them. Dave in his world of fire, Rose in her world of light and Jade in her world of snow... where they looking at the stars now too? Could they even see them?
John lay on his back wit his arms bent behind his head. He watched the sky with a peaceful smile on his face. Despite everything John always found a moment to simply mediate. Well, it wasn't really mediation per say but it was a moment where he could pause and relax. He took the time to think about his friends and his missing dad whom he missed very much. At the thought he closed his eyes and felt sad. His dad... He had to find him soon. He had to find him no matter what.
John's laptop buzzed suddenly at his side. The soft 'PING!' of messages alerted him. Someone was pestering him at this time of night? John turned his head to stare at the computer. He squinted as if staring at it would answer his curiosity as to who it was. When it didn't he dragged himself upright and pulled the laptop into his lap.
Although told by everyone around him that winning this game was pointless, John knew in his heart that he would never stop trying. He would find his father and unite with his friends. Somehow they would stop Jack and they would win against all odds. If John had any beliefs that was it.
Questions?: YES ACTUALLY! I had John around for the 4th Wall Event. Is it at all possible that he could remember that? Could I say that he was here for that and then transported ships from the Sif to the Thor? Or got transported or left behind on accident or something of that nature? If not, that's fine and I can pretend he forgot all about the 4th Wall Event. But I just thought I'd ask! Thanks. :3
