I was really giving this a thought and the only bad thing about this I can think of is that many of them big companies are international. So what would happen when the prices go up and the international companies have to put their prices up also in other countries whose citizens don't have this higher income? Well this could be solved by setting up factories and offices in the other countries and as the tax would be lower would the prices be lower too. But...what would be the point of having them companies in US anymore then, if you can set up one in a lower tax country and then sell products with bigger profit in the US?

Here in Yellowknife the minimum wage has been increased to $8.50/hour from $6.50/hour, and there are plans to increase it again in the semi-near future. This was a moot point, as the average dishwasher makes about $10/hour here anyways. Regardless of the reason for the increase, the results you proposed would happen, did happen here. People are being paid high wages, and are finding themselves with cash to spend. The stores in town have not increased their prices (although they most likely could and get away with it, due to the cash flow in the city at the moment), and in fact, are too busy for their own good. We have seen, since the increase in wages, many stores upgrade and take on more staff. The only cost that has increased in great amounts has been in the housing area. That was more due to the lack of it available. (We have both a housing and labour shortage, which is..odd ( ... )
