Astrology for the week of
October 16, 2006
By Shon Clark
Welcome to your weekly Sun-Sign astrology column. If you are unfamiliar with how Sun-Sign astrology works, let me offer you this advice: Sun-Sign astrology is based upon general astrological patterns. It is not like natal astrology, where your astrologer creates a detailed astrology chart for you that is based upon the time and place of your birth. Instead, Sun-Sign astrology looks at large systems and offers advice on how these system tend to interact with one another. This allows Sun-Sign astrology to reach an extremly wide range of people.
There are a few tips I can offer you that will help make this tool more personal to you and your life. I recommend that you:
1. Look at your sun-sign
2. Look at your rising and/or moon sign for additional advice (this information can be found with the aid of an astrologer or a good astrology website)
3. Look all of the entries and apply the advice to your life, as you see fit. Each entry offers useful advice designed to assist you in living a meaningful life.
I hope that you enjoy your astrological column. If you wish to purchase a personal chart interpretations, for youself or as a gift for a friend, please contact me directly at shon@WhirlingPearls.com or 503-241-5040.

Aries March 21-April 19
There is a tension in your life right now, my dear Aries, one which will be with you for another few weeks. I am telling you this because if you follow your normal pattern of reaction, you will condemn yourself to a very difficult series of experiences. However, if you change your perspective, the tension will become a powerful source of creativity and strength. It will teach you a great deal about other people and help you to understand their role in your life. This is particularly true for the people who bring you the most frustration. The key to this shift is simple: pretend that the people around you are divine beings or mythic heroes who have temporally forgotten their identity. Imagine that they are in need of your patience, understanding and gentle guidance if they have any hope of regaining their mythic powers and divine attributes. I urge you give them these things, but not for promise of a great reward. Instead, do it because it is the right thing to do. Understand that we all need a break now and then. We need someone to understand that, at our core, we are all truly divine.
Taurus April 20-May 20
I have two pieces of advice for you, dear Taurus, half for now and half for second half of the week. During the first part of the week, I suggest that you take some time to meditate on your relationship with authority. This can be a formal meditation setting, complete with soft music and a prescribed sitting position. Or, you can try a practical mediation by inviting your boss out to lunch. Either way, you are in a very powerful window of opportunity where you could understand something very important concerning your relationship to service. My advice for the second half of the week is to make some emotional distance between you and professional authorities. Tensions could manifest out of nowhere. If this happens, some form of conflict might ensue. I strongly recommend that you place a buffer between your emotions and the reactions of the authority figures in your life. This will help to minimize a great deal of pain.
Gemini May 21-June 21
Watch out for mental over activity this week, Gemini. In particular, your mind is likely to play havoc with the new understandings you have been developing in the areas of travel, philosophy, and complex spiritual understanding. It seems that you have been hard at work for the past few years trying to establish a new relationship these elements. I am here to tell you that the work you have put in to this growth has been good work. I would hate to see your mind tear apart your progress and call into question the value of your new ideas. Therefore, if you find your mind picking at the edges of your understanding, I urge to take its opinion with a grain of salt. If a few weeks, the astrological weather will change and you will be able to understand if this period of mental activity was speaking truth or just criticizing the progress you have been making. If you can, put off any important and lasting decisions until later. Particularly, if they have anything to do with travel, philosophy or spiritual understandings.
Cancer June 22-July 22
I recommend that you take your mind off of your professional life this week, Cancer. Unless you are a critical part of some project or deadline, it is time to keep a low profile at work. You have enough to worry about and attend to at the moment and work can wait until you have the energy to deal with it. It is possible that you have had a large amount of chaos at home, in the past few weeks, and it is only now calming down. If this is the case, you should indulge in the quiet and comfort that is present there. This will help you greatly. If your home is still in chaos, you should put energy in helping it return to a calm state. This will not take too much longer.
Leo July 23-August 22
Dear Leo, I should tell you that Mercury will be going retrograde next week. Unlike the last time this happened, Mercury’s backward stroll will not happen right in your backyard. Therefore, the disruption will not be nearly as high for you. Even so, you should still prepare. You can do this by taking some time this week putting your in order. In particular, you should think about the last three months. What has worked well for you? How have you felt connected or disconnected? Are there ways you have felt misunderstood or clearly heard? Taking stock of these things will greatly help you to keep your head on strait during the three weeks of Mercury’s retrograde journey.
Virgo August 23-September 22
Take great care this week, Virgo. Confusions and misunderstandings are very likely. You will need to take great care in crafting your words and actions for other to easily understand you. Avoid longing for better situations. Also, avoid idealizing the people around you. This is a week where your feet need to be directly under you and your words need to be well chosen. Even so, there will be times when you are not understood or seen clearly. When this happens, take a step back and try to let the other person breath. The truth will speak to them in time.
Libra September 23-October 23
This is a week of personal beauty and harmony for you, my dear Libra. I say this even as I can see that other signs will have a very rough time. They will be dealing with a very serous conflict between emotions and rules. I know that your natural tendency is to attempt to help others, sometimes to the point of actually adopting their hopes, fears, and pains. I am here to tell you that you do not have to do this; you do not have to take on their burdens. Therefore, I urge you to let the other signs take care of themselves. You have a very peaceful week before you. I hope you can enjoy it.
Scorpio October 24-November 21
This next week can be one of self-denial and frustration, leading to anger, if you are not aware of your emotional reactions, my dear Scorpio. If you are able to see your emotions for what they are, however, this week will be one of personal revelation. Many messages will come to you from your physical body. In particular, your body wishes to talk to you about some ways that you betray your own ideals and dreams. If you can look at this directly, you also learn how to stop these actions. If, on the other hand, you are unable to do so, I recommend that you do your best to refrain from direct confrontations with the perceived causes of your irritation. If you hold your tongue now, this will blow over very soon and your life will be no worse for the experience.
Sagittarius November 22-December 22
The energies around you will be very fiery and passionate, this week, Sagittarius. To deal with it, I recommend that you seek out activities that require heavy physical exertion. I also recommend that you do this with groups of people, preferably large groups. This will give you the opportunity to get our any aggression you might have in you before winter sets in.
Capricorn December 23-January 19
An unexpected burst of friendliness and social charm will visit you this week, my dear Capricorn. This will lead you to an emotional breakthrough with existing friends, the initiation of new ones, or both. This is a week of emotionally healing contact between you and others. I recommend that you take this time to revisit your life long goals and desires. This will provide you with the ability to see these goals in an entirely new light. If this happened, please keep this process in motion, as you approach your birthday. A great and beneficial gift will be waiting for you at that time.
Aquarius January 20-February 18
The stars have told me that you might be feeling a little bored with life, this week, Aquarius. They also tell me that this feeling is the result of an inner need to find new ways to feel alive. If this is the case, you can reduce this feeling by seeking out new ways to stimulate your creative side. I recommend that look to what is foreign and begin an exploration into that way of life. This could include studying on your own or having conversations experienced people from far away lands. I urge you to play in this way, because it will help you to remain focused on your ordinary life. You still have a lot of work to do there, and, while a little distraction will do you good, I do not recommend that you follow the impulse to pick up and leave your responsibilities behind.
Pisces February 19-March 20
In studying the stars, this week, Pisces, I see that you have recently experienced a spike in your interest to explore far away places. This could include an interest in the religious ideas, philosophies, or customs of other countries. I recommend that you indulge this urge. Perhaps, you can take up the study of another language. Alternately, you could start to plan a trip to another country. Or, you could learn some esoteric rituals from another religious tradition. Any of these options will help you to expand your understanding of your own culture. It will also help you to gain a deeper understanding of how many ways the Divine Force can manifest in this place we call life.
