WHO: Kushina and Naruto
WHAT: Talking, hugging, advice-giving!
WHEN: Last night.
WHERE: Naruto's couch. >.>
WHY: Why NOT? But seriously, Naruto wanted advice on letting go from his mom and Kushina was more than willing to help.

Kushina: *pounds on the door to Naruto's apartment and adopts a sing-song voice* Guess whooooo?

Naruto: *jumps up to the door excitedly because he's always excited to see either one of his parents and opens it* Mom! *already has his arms around her waist in a hug*

Kushina: *would have been knocked down with the force of the hug if she hadn't been expecting it and hadn't done the exact same thing* Correct, how'd you know? *smiles warmly and kisses Naruto's forehead for good measure*

Naruto: *smiles wiiiide* I have secret skills. *hesitates a few seconds before letting go and grabbing Kushina's arm to pull her into his apartment*

Kushina: Either that or I'm just that obvious. Let's go with you have secret elite detection skills, then. *is pulled and doesn't even mind, but once the door closes her smile fades a bit* Are you okay, hon?

Naruto: Of course it's my skills! Ninjas aren't obvious. *knows that he is >_>* *smiles a little sadly* I'm fine. Let's go sit on the couch! You want anything to drink? *pulling her towards the couch now*

Kushina: Don't suppose you have any sake. *laughs* I could use the drink, but if you DO have it, you're in trouble. *wonders if this is how Minato feels all the time, getting pulled around by her*

Naruto: *makes a face because ew sake* You won't get to ground me, we don't have any. *sticks out his tongue before flopping down on the couch face first* *and taking almost all of the place on it*

Kushina: GOOD. *examines the Naruto-filled couch* ... *decides eh, what the hell, and flops down on it after, tangling a limb or two*

Naruto: *makes a oomph sound* ...You're heavy. *chuckles a bit but goes a little quiet soon after*

Kushina: Am not. *shifts a bit before looking in Naruto's direction* Hey... You're not looking "fine", sorry to say. Do you wanna talk some more?

Naruto: Nah, I just... *looks at his hands a little awkwardly* I don't want to bother you with stupid stuff. *wraps his arms around Kushina and tries to figure out how to ask for advice*

Kushina: Oh, shush. Nothing that's bothering you is stupid stuff. If you want to talk, no matter what about, I'll want to listen. *her heart seems to skip a beat as Naruto draws closer and she thinks that she really, really loves this boy - more than she could have ever dreamed possible* *smiles to herself and puts her arm over and around Naruto's shoulders because hugs are awesome*

Naruto: *smiles again, holding on tighter* ...Okay. *hides against her and swallows because fjdsakljg he doesn't talk about this stuff* How do you...um. Let go of something.

Kushina: I'm gonna assume here that you aren't asking the question to which I would answer, "Stop clenching it in your fist." *thinks for a moment, stroking Naruto's shoulder and upper arm up and down in the mean time* I guess... with some things, you just can't. Or if you can, just trying so hard to let it go ends up bringing more pain than not letting it go. But depending on what it is, it really can be as easy as stopping clenching your fist. I do know one thing for sure, though. Most of the time, talking things over with someone is the first step, so you're already on the path to letting it go. Try thinking of it like that.

Naruto: *laughs a little at the first thing, closing his eyes and relaxing against her a bit* Why would trying make it harder if you can? *frowns a bit but thinks about what she said* Oh. I talked about it before but...probably not to the right person.

Kushina: I just meant, like... there are some things that it's possible to let go of. If I really wanted to (and I don't, but this is just an example), I could try to let go of your dad. It would probably be possible, but going through that process would probably kill me inside. *doesn't really like that example, for some reason, but presses on anyway* So you've got to think about whether letting it go is really worth the pain that might be associated with doing just that. And talking to the right person can help, yep.

Naruto: *clings a lot when Kushina says that because NO* ...Yeah. Hurts. *buries his face against her neck* It...what if you know it is? But still can't. *loves his mom a lot* I like that I can talk to you.

Kushina: I like that you can, too. *doesn't care that this makes no sense* Well.... if you know it would be worth it, but still can't.... *internally flails around trying to think of an answer that would make sense and would not involve giving up* *stares into space a little* I guess that would mean that part of you doesn't want to let go. And it's hard to change the mind of a part of you that... well, isn't your mind. So... I don't know. *sighs and is convinced that her motherly advice is crap*

Naruto: *takes slow breaths* ...Oh. *doesn't really have much else to say to that right now because it made too many thoughts start going through his head* But I want to. *swallows loudly as he keeps clinging*

Kushina: *continues what she hopes is reassuring stroking* Maybe... now just isn't the right time? Or... maybe you can start the process, but you'd have to be aware that even though you're trying to let it... let him go, you won't be able to do it all the way.

Naruto: *really is reassured by the stroking and sighs softly* It's always the right time. *winces when he hears the pronoun* So...you don't think it's possible to let go entirely?

Kushina: Hmm... from what I can tell, your situation might fit into that category, yeah. But things can change, and maybe someday, you'll be able to do that. *stops the stroking and pulls Naruto closer for a particularly tight one-armed hug* I'm sorry, Naruto.

Naruto: *smiles a little even if he's trying not to cry* What are you apologising for?

Kushina: Because it's so hard. Because I don't like seeing you hurt. *pauses* And because I didn't think about how it would affect you, with me talking to him and all.

Naruto: It's nothing you should apologise for! *smiles softly* And neither is that.

Kushina: If you insist. *positions herself to give Naruto a quick kiss on the tip of his nose* But if things get weird again, tell me, and we'll try to make it so it isn't anymore. *smirks mischievously* ...by making up some cup ramen!

Naruto: *wrinkles his nose* Okay. *hugs her tightly for a few seconds* Thanks, mom. *grins just as mischievously* What was that you were saying about ramen?

Kushina: *hugs him back just as tightly* Anytime, Naruto. Wait, what? I said something about ramen? When? Where? *her smile gives her away but oh well*

Naruto: YOU DID. *starts putting on his sulk face* Just now.

Kushina: Oh, right! I guess I'll just have to boil up some water and treat you to some after that, huh? *finally separates herself from Naruto in order to get up*

Naruto: *grins* Unfortunately for you. *gets up as well* I'll be nice and share.

Kushina: Bah, you'd better.
