I installed RAM on my old computer (bumped the old thing up to 768MB), and it turned out waaay easier than I thought. It was kind of nerve wracking to find the right slot, but then I just popped it in and fired him up. 'Course, it was a Gateway - I can't say I know much about Powermac innards, but I can say if you DIY, you'll become very comfortable popping your computer open and get past the fear of making it explode in a single touch. :) Oh, a compressed air duster was really handy for me, too - it was duuuusty in there.

The issue with the new RAM came later - my computer wasn't configured for the extra heat of another RAM chip, and he would randomly shut down from overheating. I had the option of going into BIOS to turn up the threshold CPU temp, orrr...I had my friend send me a 9mm fan, which solved the problem.

Don't let it worry you though. Every puzzle has an answer. :D

A compressed air duster! I really do need one of those. Thanks for the advice, Steph, I feel more prepared :)
