Silk Spec-durrrr

All right, by now I've made it clear that I'm eagerly anticipating  the Watchmen movie. However, I was seriously miffed when I saw the promotional posters for the film.

This is Rorschach's poster.

This is The Comedian's.

THIS is the Silk Spectre's.

Why the fuck do these people feel the need to choose THAT quote for Silk Spectre?? She's already got a ( Read more... )

Uh, yup. I'm not even female and that turns me right off. If I hadn't read the book and seen the previews, I probably wouldn't go see the movie based on that.

Yeah, well based on that poster it's not the sort of movie that would appeal to me (and clearly to you, too!)

She does wear lingerie in the book though. I mean I don't like the poster either, but at least she looks like she just hurt someone? In the book she never seemed like she could actually kick an ass, which was part of her character I suppose. I don't like Rorschach's poster, what's with that space-age gun? Does he have that in the book? All in all I think they are silly posters, it makes them look like action heroes, which, while they are super-vigilantes or whatever, what I am getting from the posters is not what I got from the book. The posters are all like "WHAM POW, EXPLOSIONS AND HOT CHICKS! There will probably cars flipping over in this movie RAWK!!"
On the other hand, advertisements and posters rarely represent the things they are advertising, RE: calling things "fun loving romps" when they are actually very complex movies? I still have hope for the movie, but I won't be miffed if it sucks fucks, I like to keep my hopes low so I can be surprised instead of let down, HEH!

Yeah I mean I think that in the book Moore does a good job of making the costume make sense for the character...something foolish she wore when she was a teenager.

I agree that the posters make more of an action-movie spectacle than the book is really about, but it's not as bad a misrepresentation as the Silk Spectre's poster is (in my opinion).

Also, JESS FINK WHY HAVE WE NEVER TALKED ABOUT COMICS IN REAL LIFE IT SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED BY NOW!

It is because when I talk about comics in real life I start to get sweaty and I drool a little bit also. Sometimes I get AROUSED. A tip is to start off talking to me about comics then quickly switch to television evangelists and fake medicine hucksters so I get nice and angry, that dries my mouth up real fast and we can continue onto manga I read in high school and stuff.
