No matter how much I'm looking forward to returning home, coming back to my house after month-long trips is always depressing. There's always a profound sense of disorder and an instantly obvious list of things that will need repair. Not big things, but niggling depressing things all the same. Awww, sorry to hear about your rat Miles. The image you paint of the other rat being cold and lonely is so sad! Poor rat.

Miles was a sick rat though, right? I seem to recall you mentioning that...

Yes, he was quite sick. And old. Ratties just don't live long enough. I bet his friend Martin knew for a long time he would have to say goodbye.
I will pass your sympathies on to Martin...

somehow all my plants lived. probably because they were left alone for a much shorter time. i'm sad about that caterpillar plant. :(
i still haven't dealt with the refrigerator yet though.

The problem is that martin isn't very snuggly with me, only with Miles. We are sitting on the couch right now and he is hiding behind a pillow.
