The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety turns 50 this year. They are the ones who crash test all those nice automobiles with the creepy looking dummies inside. Have you ever wondered how a 1950's era heavy steel clunker would do against a modern car? Wonder no more! IIHS has settled the matter.

Pretty amazing that something I thought was made of solid steel crumples so quickly. Also notable is the Bel Air Windshield striking out on it's own.

I expected the body of the car to hold up much better even if the passenger was thrown around more (no seat belts in those days).
