I feel your pain. I need approximately (gulp!) $12,000 to pay off all my current debt. Over $5,000 of that was just for god damn dental work.

Have you looked into MA free care allowances? Worth the time to at least research.

And I have to disagree with everyone above who says "Just don't pay it." Unpaid bills & collection agencies come back to haunt you long after you could have paid it off at a mere $25 a week. Which, I know, when finances are tight is still a lot of money. But that's $100 a month. The bill will be no more in 13 months. That's not so bad. Call the hospital billing department. Tell them that you have no intention of not paying the bill, but that you cannot afford to pay it in a lump sum. They may even offer to send you a payment booklet. You can do this. And, even though you tried to refuse treatment, you know what? You needed it. And this sucks, but you should do the adult thing and be responsible.

(of course, that's just my $0.02. Feel free to ignore me)

Yea, but here is the kicker, I really DIDN'T need it. All I needed was saline. They were giving that to me at the clinic at warped tour. I was concious the entire time. I only needed fluids. they shipped me against my will to the hospital where all the did was give me more fluids, which they were doing before, and took my blood and gave me an EKG...at this point when they were doing these things, i was fully concious and asking to go home. I just needed some hydration...and i can refuse treatment...and I did. They ignored me ( ... )

STEVEN

you are the only person EVER in the entire world other than my boyfriend who has every offered to help me financially. Although I could definitely use help, I will have to decline your very sweet and generous offer.

how about you treat me to lunch and i'll treat you to a trip to AMAZING and we can go in the cage!!!

:)
you are the best.

I feel your pain. I owe a little over 2,000 altogether for my surgery. They have plans and stuff to pay it off monthly. However, my aunt's friend works at a free healthcare clinic somewhere in Worcester and if you go there for your regular visits, prescriptions, and such, they take your bills and review them, and if you qualify, they pay them for you. I'll let you know how it goes and maybe you could go there.

i am sorry to hear that you are in financial trouble dear, but the reality of the situation is that if you want to live on your own and be an adult, it may be time to go out and find an adult job. even temping in a clerical position, you could probably make 12 dollars an hour and work a 40 hour work week.

There is no such thing as an "adult" job, I don't think.

I plan on going back to school, well, night school. I'm going to continue doing what I'm doing and going to school and then find another job. I finally have insurance coming to me for the first time since high school, and I just got a raise, and another one coming soon...so things at my current job are going rather well so far.

I work 35 hours a week, and make enough to live comfortably for someone my age. I would like to make more money, but honestly, I would not be able to continue happily working in an office, or doing something I absolutely hate...it's just not who I am. I could be making all the money in the world, and if I didn't have time for myself, or had to do the whole 9-5 commute and tedium, I would probably kill myself. I'm looking for a job that I love, and I won't settle until I find one. If that means going and taking night courses, then so be it. :)

as someone who works at an "adult" job, i absolutely disagree with you.

this isnt my dream job either, you know? but in the meantime i make 35,000 a year and i have insurance and im saving. i am not as happy here in an office as I would be doing something more social for a living, but, guess what? i have bills that need to be paid, and here i can cover them and still have cash left over to play.

i just think that having office experience is a good thing in case you ever need to rely on it. it looks more professional on your resume when you finally do decide to apply for that job you love.
