7 Toddlers Grow Up 01

* chapter index *
You know me: I like prequels. For a change, I'm doing a lengthy sequel to my 7 Toddler Challenge!

We start briefly with my 2016 session. I resolved to play by the same rules: no hired help, no job for me, no cheats. So, I caution the kids to choose their transition clothes wisely. They'll be wearing them till adolescence.

What did I say, Angel? She assures me that picking the pirate outfit does not mean that she's starting a life of crime.

It's the first day of school! I get the kids up early, making their beds and getting dressed.

I wish I could say that I cooked a healthy breakfast. Instead, everyone eats stale birthday cake.

That's me, cleaning in the background. I have no cooking points, and I don't want to skill because the place is too messy. So, first things first!

I'll make it up to you, kids.

Then Angel throws a tantrum. Her aspiration level is in the red and she's upset because she 'grew up badly.'

I send her to talk hobbies with Marcel. That puts her in a better mood: now she wants to play and joke around with him.

Good work, Marcel!

Ocean, Skylar, and Adriana play together before school.

At least, I think they're playing. Looks more like they're preparing to do some table-turning. You'll see what I mean, later on: Adriana and the activity table are a spooky combination.

In my notes, I record how it does my heart good to see them all troop onto the bus.

I spend the afternoon putting in a garden to offset our grocery bill.

All too soon, they're home again, and they bring MORE children with them.

The boys are Sports fans. Good stuff! Play outdoors until dinner.

Fast forward to 2018! It's Saturday, so we can spend all weekend getting re-acquainted.

Marcel can't contain his excitement!

I'm gratified that they wake up wanting to 'do homework' and 'learn how to do homework.'

Heidi hits the books early.

Just look at them all, washed and dressed and skilling. *This* is what warms my heart, two years later!

I can tell that Marcel will be the scene stealer in this bunch.

Just when I get things under control, I want to turn into a werewolf.

On the plus side, I also want to be BFFs with Angel.

I can serve them breakfast, now -- to the extent that my single cooking point allows.

If only we had a TV, Ocean and Adriana would be all set for Saturday morning cartoons.

After breakfast, Marcel helps me wash up, which endears him to me.

Just look at this guy. He hefts the biggest dish and turns the tap with grim determination.

At this point, I decide to use modest money and energy cheats to keep the boat afloat.

Laura wants a piano, so I buy one in the hopes that someone will be a Music & Dance Sim.

And it works! I'm happy to discover that Adriana's hobby is Music & Dance.

No, really. I'm happy about this.

Heidi likes Music, too.

Speaking of Heidi -- she missed the first seating for breakfast. I tide her over with some juice. I'm going to experiment with Neder's Variable Meal Servings so that I can feed everyone at once.

Meanwhile, Laura invites Yvette Phelps over to play. She regrets doing so instantly.

I think I know why. Yvette is a bit of a character. She reminds me of Jordan Miller from Jayne's neighbourhood. She's a friendly, active little girl who loves to Tinker.

They auto-play tag for a while, then I send them inside to draw and play with blocks.

While everyone's occupied, I grab a moment to look for work. I'm still not sure how much I want to rely on money cheats. In any event, no one's hiring oceanographers, today.

Huh. Is that a picture of me on the back page?

I feel guilty about Skylar's sorry start in life, so he's the first one I help with homework.

Heidi is also studying. She wants to gain a skill point, any skill point, so I have her read a cookbook.

Meanwhile, Marcel and Ocean play catch outdoors.

Lunch time! Hard to believe the day is only half over. Laura wants sandwiches, so that's what I make.

Heidi decides that cooking isn't for her. She wants to gain another skill point, and she doesn't leave it to chance, this time. She specifies a body point. Heidi is a Music & Dance Sim, so I install a barre.

Marcel may steal scenes, but Heidi always finds the camera.

Skylar wants a body point, too. Such active kids! He shoots hoops on the new court.

I serve up lunch then head outdoors to feed the wolves.

I'm giving serious thought to pursuing this werewolf want.

I direct Marcel to do some gardening.

I'd rather he water the plants *after* he weeds, but I take responsibility for that mix-up, myself.

Peek-a-boo with plates!

Angel spends most of the day napping. When she wakes up, I help her with her homework.

We auto-dance to celebrate completing it, and I discover that I'm a Music & Dance Sim, too!

For her part, Angel is an Arts & Crafts Sim. She rolls the want for an easel and starts painting right away.

Marcel wants to be friends with Lark. To round out the day, Marcel gives him a call.

I like the fond expression on his face. Lark must be a good conversationalist!

Two days down, six to go! Coming up, we have make-overs and Sunday in the park.

Thanks for reading!
