Hello everyone! It's been a long time. How are you all doing?
I'm writing with a brief update on my Simming activity. Please click to read more!
Blog Photos: Heartbreak and Hope
When PictureTrail closed, I lost most of the photos on my blog. No problem, I thought. I stored all the entries on disc. I can repost them using a new photo host.
I had already started reloading 7 Toddler Challenge. My laptop used to read my old USB stick, so without thinking, I plugged it in. Horrors! The laptop no longer recognizes it and started to re-format. I removed the stick but it was too late. Now my old machine no longer reads the USB either.
I'm heartbroken. I lost so much data through one careless mistake: blog photos, saved Sims, custom content. I'm most upset about the photos. My blog is pointless without them.
Holding my breath, I checked my gaming computer. The photos are still there! I should be able to re-create my old posts. I'll have to select the photos all over again, and I might not match the originals, but I look forward to the extra work. I'll be truly engaging with my blog and renewing its content.
Having said all that -- does anyone know how to recover files from a USB stick under these circumstances?
Getting my Sim groove back
I've been a long time returning to the Sims. Sharing my gameplay is an important part of my Simming experience. I had to reach a point at which I wanted to play AND blog.
I found an unlikely source of inspiration: YouTube Simmers. I like to read Sim blogs, but watching gameplay videos is much more dynamic! It's like we're 'playing dolls' together.
I'm a big fan of
Ani Bats and
Antisocial Bunny. Ani Bats's gameplay is methodical and her voice is soothing. In contrast, Antisocial Bunny's commentary is hilarious and she appreciates the quirkiness of the game. I watch Ani Bats when I want to relax and Antisocial Bunny when I need a good laugh.
I also watch Sims 1 gameplay by
Sim Me Plumbob, which brings me to my next point.
Reticulating Splines
I'm playing TS1 again! This game is where it all began for me. I played it obsessively for about five years before starting Sims 2. I return to it now to soothe my Simming soul with a simpler game environment, one in which the sun always shines and pets live forever.
I've been playing the pre-mades. Here are some recent photos from my TS1 gameplay.

What about the Coronas?
The Coronas are safe and sound on my computer. I re-read the Generation 02 entries and fell in love with them all over again. I want to continue their adventures and meet the next generation!
I'm not sure when I'll post another gameplay update. I'm still shaken from losing my back-up/safety-net files. It's a new Sim world for me. (Seriously, if anyone is reading this, I'd really appreciate some words of comfort.) In the meantime, I look forward to reading Sims updates on other blogs. Please do keep posting to LiveJournal!
