I did it. I told Shirley this morning that she isn't allowed to draw blood anymore and why. She handled it better than I thought she would. Almost as if she expected it. She probably did after the other day... when she missed all but one blood draw and then asked me what she was doing wrong. She asked why and if patients were complaining. I said yes, that they complained she was hurting them. I broke it as gently as I could. She's an elderly woman and she's sensitive. So, now her responsibilities are vital signs, filing (which thankfully I have Taylor here to do most of that so things are in order :P), stocking supplies, ensuring we have what we need, cleaning, and some miscellaneous things around the office.
I let mom know that I did the deed and she was happy. Bleh. Happy she didn't have to do it :P But, things are perking up. Now that Shirley doesn't draw blood she seems happier as well, like she isn't as stressed. This is a good thing all around then. Plus the patients will be happier.
I just got a call too, this woman asked what we charge for an office visit, if it's on a sliding fee scale. I said no, we charge a flat fee of $50 which does not include labs, tests, in office medicines we use/supply or equipment received by the patient. She was a smart ass and said "Oh I bet you have people chomping at the bit for that" and hung up on me. Yes m'aam, we do actually. That's why we've been open for 10 months and have nearly 800 patients already without advertising. You can't go -anywhere- around here without paying a minimum of $120 base fee for an office visit. She's nuts. Only one office in this region has a sliding fee scale and the regulations for it make it nearly impossible to fit the criteria. I should know, mom opened that clinic and ran it before the Hospital turned it into a money circus. This rude woman obviously didn't realize her phone number isn't private :) I love caller ID.
Anyway. Other than dealing with obnoxious people, my day is going great. Scott called, it's his birthday and he was in rare form. He was poolside, tanning, and having a good time. I have to find him a girlfriend, and fast. I'm hoping the vet breaks up with her boyfriend, she'd be perfect. If not, I have a backup drug rep, but he doesn't seem interested in her. HELP! Must... find... Scott... a... date... heh. He informed me that he had a sinfully good time at Las Vegas and that he probably should spend a week in church, at least. Good for him *rofl*
Doc boy is here. Is it illegal to put poison in his food intentionally? ^.^ I mean... even if he is an obnoxious little twit?
