As harsh as my post sounds, I have been sensitive to his emotions and needs. He was depressed for three days after it happened, and rightfully so. It was a terrible event for him. He didn't move off the couch except to use the bathroom and in the middle of the night to get his own medication, even though I stayed on the couch with him so I could get up if he needed anything. He didn't want to wake me. (The couch has a recliner on each end, made it very useful for this.) My friends held a candlelight vigil in honor of his lost fingertip and sent pictures of this to me. His weird brother asked if he kept the tip so we could have a funeral for it. Steve joked that entire Monday (the day it happened) but fell into a depression that night. He seemed much better today after physical therapy and seeing how well the finger is healing yesterday. I've always worried that he was going to do some serious harm to himself with his stupidity. We've now added the garage door to the list of things he isn't allowed to handle; glass, knives, tools, his ( ... )
