lol good morning me i read "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" as "enter the dragon" and was like "uh that wasn't foreign" the remake would probably make 0 dollars or something so even if it exists i wouldn't even worry bout it
Oooh, I've never actually sat through Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but I would dearly love to. If it's anything like Hero, do want. *_*
Blah, that whole mess with Akira has gotten me on the rampage whenever blatant whitewashing occurs in Hollywood (a.k.a. a whole friggin' lot). Aside from the obvious wrongness of it, it's just like....why do you want to continually recycle the same white guys? Does it just make filmmakers feel safe? (Seriously, who picked Ryan Reynolds for Green Lantern? Why not be awesome and different like the 90's animated version and pick Djimon Hounsou or something? THAT would've been badass.)
No wonder 90% of what comes out of Hollywood anymore is puerile garbage.
I think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a little bit less dramatic than Hero but it's still very, very good. You'll love the main characters.
Hollywood does recycle a lot of its actors in the hope that their fans will come and see the movie. Now I love actors like Johnny Depp but I wouldn't hire him to play a character that was in his teens because the audience will know he's not 17 or 20.

You said it. I only trust studios like Dreamworks and Disney completely and I'm very selective about what films I go and see if they don't belong to the two companies. If I'm going to spend money to see a film, I want to make sure that I'm going to at least somewhat enjoy it.
have you seen "Hero"? It's so good because of the Chinese atmosphere, setting, and story. If they'd ever re-did that I'd have to kill someone.
Actually. I was looking at that writer's block question too, but couldn't think of a favourite movie, so I didn't bother. It's interesting when you compare some of the adapted movies with their original. Some of them are well done (the grudge) for example, while others are terrible (ATLA, Dragonball) ((okay, ATLA is in a grey area))
INDEED! I recently rewatched it and it was fabulous. I love the colours, the fight scenes, the story.
It really is. It's amazing how some people can get adaptions so right where people like M. Night struggle to see why the fans of the original TV show aren't happy. I guess some of the directors are either lucky and respect the source material and others don't.

I can imagine the fans saying "NOTHING COMPARES TO THE ORIGINAL! NOTHING!" so you'd probably be right. :D
