So, after teetering on this edge for a good week, I've finally gotten sick

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. You're just kicking your own ass by going in when you're not up to it. Are you able to work over-time to make up for it, or do they not really allow that because you have sick days you can use?

I have time I can use, but my sick time and vacation time are combined, so I'm trying to save it up.

I can pretty much always get overtime at my job.

Doesn't matter though, cause I'm feeling fine now.

I probably should abandon that goal, though. It's impractical.
