I feel like such a horrid and terrible person. But for reason known to me and my stupidity, I can't remember.

The crippled coach.

I have no idea what role he plays (if any) in the anime. In the manga, we first meet him in v. 4--he's the good-looking coach for Kokubu JH. After Josui's practice match with Kokubu, Amamiya asks Yuko "how she coaches them." She disclaims any ability to do so and says she tried unsuccessfully to get Souju Matsushita.

He grips her shoulders: "Souju Matsushita? [...] where is he now?"

"Amamiya--you really know him?"

"...he's more than just an acquaintance. How could I forget? For the past 11 years I've been looking for him."

Now that sort of comment makes my heart go B-BMP! So does the following scene, when Amamiya goes to see Matsushita.
