Revisiting: Volume 2

May 14, 2010 19:51

And now that we've had time to read the first volume, let's go on to Volume 2!

Here are some questions again to prompt you:

  • What were you favorite parts?
  •
  • What was the most shocking part?
  •
  • What characters did you like the best at that point?

Akira and Katsuro, really? XD I don't like Akira cause he's a douche, so I'd never even considered him. Lol. And I'm too much of a die-hard Seiji/Katsuro fan <3 <3 Those two are married ( ... )

Katsuro is sort of just that good guy that would be good for everyone. Seiji too, but Seiji needs someone long-suffering enough XD

Starting things off with Tat's track friend, I admit I had to squeal just a tiny bit, getting this glimpse that Mr. Stone Cold anti-social might actually have other friends! Shocker. But judging on Oda's competitive reaction to Sho catching up to him, I can see how these two are friends. ;) I love how a simple glare from el capitano can make Takai shut up and train, though ( ... )

DUDE, THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT TOO ABOUT SHIGE! and I love how his bio says he dislikes girly men. Ftw, but he embroiders? ... though I guess it kinda makes sense, since he lives in a temple, and maybe he's had to learn to do this on his own since he doesn't have a mom.

Yeah, tatsuya can be ICE COLD when he wants to. I mean, the things about his mom smiling, that was a buuuurn.

Haha, yeah, I had to laugh at tatsubon and Shige's interaction during the assignment of positions. Shige is so easily bought sometimes.

Dude, Tatsuya dodging Mamiya's ball was so badass. <3

I feel like Shige's usage of Onii-san even with Tatsuya is probably part of his larger ploy to fool everyone and make them underestimate him. :/ Maybe?

Forgot to answer this!

I can see the dude running the temple making Shige learn stuff like embroidery. You know, he has to earn his keep and there's only so many things you can clean! He needs other skills. ;)

I love it when Tats burns people. Mean, but oh so awesome!

Shige is easily bought. A simple compliment does him wonders! I guess Tats picked up on complimenting people to diffuse situations from living with three women, haha.

I kind of think Shige refers to Tats with Onii-san to make fun of him. Kind of like a Japanese equivalent of calling someone "mom" when they're hassling you about things! That certainly seems more like Shige than using it out of respect, heh.

But if he even uses it in his head, then maybe it's not just in mockery? <- about the onii-san thing.

this stuff? bugs and new years birthdays and embroidery and temple upbringing is all drabble worthy. *smirk*

Alright, I'm not done reading it yet but I have to say this:

SHIGE IS A HOUSEWIFE.

Evidence 1: he plays well with kids (Vol. 1 end when Sho is with Noro in the park)
Evidence 2: He can embroider?! (Vol 2. ch. 8)
Evidence 3: he wears a handkerchief in his hair ;)

Hahaha, okay, here's my thoughts now:

Wow, I'd forgotten about this bullying business with the delinquents. In that sense, the manga has changed a bit, because it's pretty much strictly soccer-related later on. Interesting. And I have to laugh at Shige drinking the coke -- that was like a coke commercial right there XD

And it shows that Tatsuya lives with females. His observational skills are top-notch (did you change your lipstick, sensei?)

sdfhskj SEIJI and KATSURA. Oh, my heart did a little flip at their unexpected entrance!

LOL, Shige, "Have you forgotten my existence?" XD man, he thinks he's so special <3

Man... Shige is kind of ruthless when he wants to be. He's... not a bad guy, but he definitely has no qualms about pushing people to get the results he's looking for. I mean, he's rough with Sho. But the trust Tatsuya places on his right from the beginning when entrusting Sho to him... is kinda shippable impressive ( ... )

To answer your question - ducking is allowed during PKs. You don't see it often, but it is allowed!

And Seiji's birthday being on New Years is quite awesome! You should totally fic that. ;) I can't believe I didn't notice Katsuro disliking crawling bugs. That is adorable! I think I was too stuck on Shige's dislike of girly men to appreciate anything else, haha.

KSHdfaks SHIGE'S DISLIKE OF GIRLY MEN seems like the most irony hypocritical thing that could have been said for him. I don't even know how to take it - as a joke? Because 1 - Shige embroiders. wtf. 2 - Half his friends are super girly-looking (Tatsubon, Tsubasa).

Maybe he means spineless wussy guys? I think that's the way I'll have to take it.

I think that's totally what she meant. Men with no balls! I suppose, after all, one would have to possess balls of steel in order to openly show your embroidery skills at school at that age.
