Allo!
I'm a recent fan of Whistle and have only made it to episode 14 so far. I ranted in my journal about it, but I'm the only person I know who's a fan of this series. T__T
First off: The first thing I ever saw was the beginning of the themesong, wehre they had a stone carving OF A NAKED MAN WITH A PENIS.
Okay, so even though I'm on episode 47 or so of Prince of Tennis, I have yet to cry. By the time I got to episode 9 of Whistle, I was BAWLING MY EYES OUT.
I mean, honestly. What team loses a super-major match their first time? Haha, I'm so used to sports movies and junk where a ragtag team is gathered together, and after some trials and tribulation, they get really good and beat their rival school.
However, these guys took like five episodes playing a game against Musashi no Mori and STILL lost. If there weren't some major character-development stages in those episodes, sometimes I feel as though they were a waste. However, people realize that Sakura Jyousei is now a very formidable team becase they were the only ones that gave Musashi no Mori any trouble in the prelims.
My favorite character would have to be Fuwa Daichi-kun. I'm sure that most people probably like Shige or Mizuno. Haha, I also love how Shige has an obsession with nicknames. His own name is Satou, but he makes people call him Shige. He calls the main character, Kazamatsuri Shou, Pochi! Heee. And he calls Tatsuya Mizuno, Tastu-bon. Flaark.
Ah, right. Fuwa Daichi. I love how his voice is all data-like, very much like Inui's. However, he doesn't know very much about actual human interaction, or soccer for that matter. He does make a very good goal keeper for Sakura Jyousei, though. I've also decided that my favorite pairing would have to be Fuwa x the Musashi no Mori goalkeeper. I can't seem to remember his name right now.
Musashi no Mori is filled with prettyboy characters and they have the same air about them as the Seigaku Regulars. Only... their coach is really darn mean.
Watching Whistle! actually makes me want to go out and do SOMETHING and then try really hard at it. The way Shou goes about everything is so awesome. He's got this persevearance of the gods and on top of that, he has no ego. Not to mention, he manages to make everyone fall in love with him. Secretly, I think Shou is the gayest character in the entire series. He just makes all of the other people gay because he spouts out rainbows and junk.
Haha, no seriously. Tenjyou, the scary guy from Kokube Middle School, is like... Akutsu in disguise. They have the same hair color and eyes, too. Same personality as well. Only, Tenjyou really loves soccer and wants to become a pro--he's just insane and hates teamwork and loves power. RIGHT! So after Shou beats the shit out of him in soccer, he cries and is all, "omgwtf I CRY!" So Shou finds him and says a bunch of stuff.
And WAHLAH! Tenjyou turns gay and wants to rape Shou.
Poor poor naive Shou. He's got, Noro, Tenjyou, Fuwa (although Fuwa really loves MusashinoMori!GoalKeeper), Shige, Mizuno, Taiko and even Sakura Jyousei's new coach, Sou, all chasing after his little soccer butt.
The only peeve I have with this anime is the fact that they added a lot of unnecessary girls to the mix. They're sort of non-existant, though, so it's alright I guess. I also don't like the character designs in that their legs are really short and stubby, while their shoulder are really wide. o-o;
It's funny because all of the boys cry all the time.
u.u; Right, in any case, I make a living off of icons. You can see my icon journal,
kitzaku_icons for examples. I really want to make a plethora of Whistle! icons, but... I am at a loss for screenshots. ^^; If anyone can direct me to a site with some, or if anyone has any at all, it would be greatly appreciated! [Preferably Fuwa Daichi. ^^; ]
