LJ, Facebook, and Twitter

(swiped from tashabear, because it's a good idea)

I will not post anyone's comments or posts to Facebook or Twitter, please do not do so with my flocked posts. I value highly the conversations we can have here, and have not the slightest intentions of throwing them out into the wilds of internet just because the technology exists to do so.

Facebook is my public face. I don't post anything to Facebook unless I don't care if the entire world knows about it. LJ is my "inner sanctum." I'll post about crap at work, looking for jobs and such, rants and raves about whatever I feel like no matter how unpopular my opinion might be... You know, the sort of stuff I don't want copied to Facebook. Or Twitter, which I'm not even on...

same with me... I tell my LJ things I don't want EVERYONE to know. I like having control over who sees what...

I just got this from a friend:

If you're on livejournal and don't want people crossposting their comments (on your locked posts!) elsewhere, try this: http://bit.ly/aacD73

It's working for me - the Repost to label still shows up but there are no buttons to push to actually export the comment.

Nice! This won't prevent those buttons from showing up on other people's screens, but it means there is a 0% chance I'll hit the wrong button. Not that I've linked my LJ and Facebook accounts at all. Thanks for sharing!

Hmm, yes, good point. Well, I'm also hoping LJ will listen to the many complaints and give us all a way to opt out of it across the board. We'll see!
