Fic: The Silence Before the Storm Fandom: Prince of Tennis Prompt: "Indigo" Pairing: Hint of Tezuka/Fuji Rating: G Word count: 1340 Beta: whymzycal Summary: Fuji ponders transferring to Rikkai
This is EXCELLENT. Wow, I loved this. Ever since I saw Konomi mention he'd considered taking the plot in that direction, having Fuji transfer to Rikkai, it's been interesting to wonder about. I read parts of this and couldn't help saying outloud "YES!" *_*
As the commenter above said, this is the perfect understated tone that I love in stories. You conjure the feelings intelligently and I'm TOTALLY going to hunt your LJ for other stories now. Thanks for sharing!
This was a really thoughtful and beautifully written piece. Kudos! I loved how you pulled in so many elements of the series without dwelling too long on them - such as the "ghosts" in the locker room and Fuji's relationship with Yuuta. Not to be repetitive, but you really struck the perfect balance between what was expressed verbally and nonverbally between Tezuka and Fuji. Even though I'm quite happy imagining a relationship developing between the two, your explanation for why their actions toward each other are understated fits the spirit of the original story

Fuji is such an interesting character to me because he leaves me with so many unanswered questions. Why doesn't he play all-out? Has he ever REALLY? How good would he really be if he did? Did what happened with Yuuta have anything to do with it? It's like in a sense he really wants to win, but yet, he doesn't want to make the effort. He's got to be practicing really hard to perfect his counters, right? Then he does something like curling on the day they switch clubs because no one else will do it with him and he'll automatically win. Then there's his wicked sense of humor.
I also like to think that once Nationals is over and Tezuka can focus on something other than the team, that he and Fuji will have a chance at some kind of relationship. But with Tezuka going pro, I don't know. That could be a whole other fic.
Thanks so much for reading and for taking the time to comment!

I've written very few Prince of Tennis fics, I'm afraid. I've got a few cracky ficlets, but this was my first serious attempt at the fandom.
