08 - Seeking the Familiar

Jan 05, 2010 14:30

Good People, I have spent much time meditating on what I am about to ask, and I thank Lady Inara for teaching me how to do so.

As others have asked before, I ask now: I wish to know if anyone knows of this word, and if so what it means to them:
PaladinI understand there is also a man among us using this name? Sir, I would be ever grateful for your ( Read more... )

I have neither answers nor suggestions for either of your queries, Seren, but I do have some small grasp of what the layout of the Wilderness is; it helps that there are maps of the place scattered throughout it. I could help you find materials for your shine if you like, though I do not know what rites or specific materials you deem necessary for its construction.

Maps? How big are these maps, Fred?

Roughly about the height of a person, a little less than 2 meters tall I would say. They are about that wide as well, and have small drawings of all the floors of this structure. All the shops on each floor are numbered neatly; their names are listed numerically along the side.

Unfortunately, there is no description of what the stores are, so I have been forced to use trial-and-error to find out.

Some of the names are rather misleading.

Misleading? Dare I ask what you speak of?

Those are indeed very large maps... perhaps I shall try to detail my own map for ease of traveling throughout the place. I am glad it is not a labyrinth at least.

I'm not sure how much I know about that sort of thing, but I wouldn't mind helping you look for things there.

Why thank you very much - may I ask to whom am I speaking?

Oh! This is Cara, sorry.

Ah wonderful to know your handwriting now.

I don't suppose you know anyone familiar with purification rites or shrines, do you Miss Cara?

[He's kinda a bit startled to see his name written so forcefully when he's done nothing of note recently]

I am the one who calls myself Paladin, Seren. [pause] Also Serenity?

Yes I used to call myself Serenity before the new girl appeared here.

Greetings Paladin, I am a Scavenger here. I have seen your writing around before - had I known that was your name I might have tried to contact you sooner.

I see. Kind of you to change your name for her sake.

And if you are--forgive my prying--a tall woman of pale skin and long white hair as well as being a Scavenger, then we might have met before: I met a woman of that description and name who said she could not understand my name when I spoke it.

I am she!

How strange! In the time since I met you I learned of the word 'Paladin' and have been muddling over its meaning all this while! Yet I did not know it when we met. What strange magic this place forces on its inhabitants!

I know of the word. Though I have met the man who goes by it, I do not seem to think it much of a name. A title, perhaps?

As for traveling into the Wilderness, I am already exploring this Mall if you require me to look for things.

Why... Grace is it not? I have not spoken with you in a long time. Strange that you also think of it more as a title than a name.

If you are already there... might you be able to locate anywhere with stone or masonry equipment? How I wish I could remember the symbol for Rao... I think there is one, anyway.

Watch her not think it's weird she doesn't know that Rao. chaostorm January 5 2010, 22:06:43 UTC
Indeed. We have not, Apprentice Scavenger. Perhaps it is nothing more than a misdirected feeling.

I am able to look. I do not think I saw anything, but perhaps I was mistaken.

A symbol for your god? [pause] I cannot recall anything of that nature.

Of course XD What use does a Sorceress have for Religion? white_disciple January 6 2010, 00:12:09 UTC
I have since been promoted, actually, but thank you for remembering.

Perhaps with more eyes searching I will be more fortunate. It seemed like such a storehouse as I had never known.

Alas, but if you know of Paladins, then surely there must be other things familiar to us both, as mundane as they may be.

What may I find in a Hardware store?

godsmajesty January 5 2010, 23:00:30 UTC
Supplies and tools. Usually the things you'd need to repair a house and make a few things too.

I see... perhaps I shall be able to locate one then. As a Scavenger we can never have enough tools at our disposal, it would seem.
