I understand that contents of journals are bad for developing a good understanding of people, especially when it's occasional remarks about a third party. All I know of The Stiff is what I've read in your journals, but from that bit of information I think The Stiff has a very manipulative personality. I would caution you against spending time one-on-one in person with The Stiff as long as you have "feel[ings] that [you] can't survive without him," as that mind state could be easy for a manipulator to use to their advantage. Right now, I think The Stiff just needs a few lessons about who is in charge - YOU! :-) Perhaps, in time, you'll be able to see if a real friendship can be redeveloped, but I think your own mental health needs to come first right now.
Trust me, I agree.... I really do.... In my opinion, he IS manipulative, mentally abusive and totally destructive. Just now after two years of him being "omni present", I"m stupidly afraid of life. However, my feelings for him? I hate him... literally. I want nothing to do with him. Talking to him on the phone, it's harder to tell him no than to have to do it in email or IM.
