Why are Bellaluna and Sterling being standoffish with Матрёшка? I mean, other then just for general angst?

It's not so much that they're standoffish as they're just not used to her yet. Матрёшка is very energetic and tactile, and pretty damn clingy at this point. Bella and Sterling are friendly enough, but they're neither of them particularly tactile, and while they're willing to be patient with Матрёшка's tendencies, it's gonna get a little uncomfortable after a while.

Seriously though, once they're all finally used to each other, everyone gets their head out of their ass and plays nice.

I'm always gonna know everyone's motivations, cos I'm the author, but you're only given a limited perspective and it's easy to misinterpret when you don't have all the info. I mean, Dick and Матрёшка did.
