I think it tore me up a little to see a sad, sweet little hospital scene for these two. Great job! Though there's one line that looks like you might have left something out:

"He had always thought that, in the end, it would be he who tried desperately to [insert word here] Raikou, when he finally decided Gau wasn’t interesting anymore."

I can't believe the frequency of posts at my little community! I'm planning out my multichapter adventure-y type story, and I have no idea if it will be set with Gau in or out of the hospital.
