Good morning folks! In my opinion, an awesome episode last night. I heard some folks complaining that it was uneventful, but to me, it wasn't meant to be "eventful" as it was mostly an origins story, nothing more. We found out more about the island while still keeping secrets about it from us and the relationship between Jacob and Esau was ( Read more... )

hehe thanks!!

Good points on Jacob and Christ. And I did love the "looking down" comment that Esau made to him. i did like how this episode humanized both Jacob and Esau, but especially jacob. It makes us realize that he isn't a god or anything, but simply another possible candidate and many came before him.

I remember you saying that about his tapestry.

I meant to talk about the language in the beginning but totally forgot! Thanks for pointing that out!

The language was all Latin. It sounded like Spanish because Spanish is a Latinate language (like French and Italian). I was watching in subtitles, and I've only had a semester of Latin, but I recognized most of it. (see my comment above)

Stephanie;

Thank you! That makes sense as when the Losties met Charles, Ellie, and Richard in the fifties Widmore and the guy he killed were speaking Latin. Juliet said all "Others" spoke Latin. Always enjoy your insights!

random thought popped out my head but what if MiB was meant to have the name Jacob? I don't know the specifics with the story behind Esau and Jacob but I here multiple times about birth rights and what if he was in fact suppose to be named Jacob but due to Fake Mother, Jacob had taken Brother's birth right, ergo, his name? I realize this pertains no real significance but in case it does come up I wanted to be the one who said it first :) and two more ideas one being another random thought and the other something I read over the inter-web. First, my idea, what if Esau's name was Lost this whole time? That would > = pwn'd or what if the entity that is worse than death is being "LOST" idk just my random two cents. Next idea, Frank Lapidus = Sawyer, what are your thoughts? Idk if I'm buying it personally but anyone named Frank is a friend of mine. :)

I'd have to double check the story, but Esau was the older brother. Their mother was given a prophecy that the older brother would serve the younger one and due to this prophecy, she messed things up in terms of their father. See, Esau was meant to receive his fathers blessing as the elder son, but their father was blind and their mother, remembering the prophecy, disguised Jacob as Esau so he would get the blessing. Esau was furious and Jacob fled.

Interesting idea about Esau's name; after all, he has no home, no real direction and no real future. If that's not his name, it definitely pertains to him.

What do you mean about Frank = Sawyer? Do elaborate! Thanks!
