Notes about LOST (6.17) - "The End"

May 24, 2010 07:54

Morning folks! A fantastic end to the greatest TV series, ever. I wasn't expecting a lot of answers, so I wasn't irritated when they didn't give us too many in terms of the mythology or even Walt. I always loved the spiritual and religious aspect of the show and how the finale used these themes was terrific. We have much to talk about, so let's do ( Read more... )

Than you for great analysis. It was insightful and entertaining.

these folks died both long before and long after Jack's death and this is how they're reunited and how they will take that next step in their spiritual journey of the afterlife.

Ben's not immortal, its Purgatory... he's simply not ready to move on. the end

Are you talking about in terms of the island or afterlife? In regards to the afterlife, I think Ben was waiting around, maybe for Alex or even Annie. Or maybe he was repenting for his sins before he moved into the afterlife. In regards to the island, I'm thinking Hurley could've made him immortal if they wanted it.

Nice job, baby brother... anonymous May 24 2010, 20:35:21 UTC
As always, nice work on the summary. I can honestly say that I am content with the way they ended things. There was no way the writers were going to be able to wrap up everything...that's the point. Leave it up to interpretation...but the overall theme remains constant.

Saw this link to another review and thought you would appreciate it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2010/may/24/lost-ending-final-episode-reviewed

Brutha- I agree; I loved how they ended things. And lots of folks are irritated that the show didn't answer everything. I think with some analysis, you could come up with possible answers yourself, which is good.

Reading that review now; thanks!!

I don't know if you've already jotted this down in an earlier blog - I just found out from your bro that you had this - but I thought the #s were for the 6 candidates. If you look at the names Jacob had on the cave wall they were the 6 #s that weren't crossed out. Right?

Greetings! Yes, there were numbers for the candidates on the wall in the cave. Yes, if I remember correctly, the candidates that weren't crossed out were the main LOSTies, but I think towards the end only the names of Hurley, Sawyer, Kwon(s), and I think Jack weren't crossed off.

hope this helps. thanks for reading!!

Jeff! My apologies for the late reply; Vegas took alot out of me and once we got back to Ohio, I went back to work. And then I bought "Red Dead Redemption" and well, I don't remember much after that. lol ( ... )

Thank you... I've been reading your blog for a while now but I never commented... I just wanted to say thank you for always posting it. I loved going to find your blog the next day and reading about the last episode. I think I might not have caught a lot of things if not for it, and as everyone knows, it's the little details that makes Lost an amazing show!! Though the big details are cool too haha. Anyway, it must take a lot of work to put these posts together, so I just wanted to say thank you :) It made Lost a more enjoyable experience because I got to go back and visit each episode again.
