[ Lawr was quick to attach himself to Albus when he finally found the man. This was not the keenly-dressed Lawr that Albus was accustomed to seeing. This was the the living proof that Lawr was far too small and skinny for his own good. The uniform he'd been given was far too large. The only thing keeping his pants up was a cord tied tight round his waist, he was nearly swimming in the jacket, and with lack of properly-fitting footwear, he'd opted to go barefoot. ]

They gave me a gun. [ He looked vaguely horrified. ] What am I supposed to do with that?

[Albus could only laugh at the question. Glancing back at the boy who had quickly become his shadow, he sighed and held out his hand.]

Give it to me and I will show you how to use it.

[If there was one thing Albus could do, it was retain information extraordinarily well. When they had been shown how to use their weapons, he had taken a number of what he termed 'mental notes'. Now he would put them all to use.]

[ Lawr stared at the ground sheepishly for a moment or two, trying to decide how he could phrase this most delicately. He glanced around to be sure none of the commanders were lingering within earshot... ]

[Albus paused, surprised at first. But then he couldn't help but admire the boy's actions. That was really quite brave of him to go without any sort of weapon.]
