Summary: Sesshoumaru has great timing.
Experience had taught him that the most important skill a warrior could learn was when to strike. One should never rush in unprepared and uninformed, and yet a warrior who hesitates gives strength to his enemy.
Timing was everything when facing an opponent, especially one as dangerous as the woman before him. A creature of passion and instinct he could never truly predict her next move. Sometimes she would run from him, at other times she had attacked him, but always… always she had defied him. Kagome was not the type of opponent one could take for granted. He had made the mistake early on of ignoring, assuming that the frail body of a human could not house enough power to stand against his will.
That had been a mistake. One he had paid for dearly. It had cost him his birthright, his father’s sword, his arm, and his revenge. But this time, this time it had cost him everything. Every last part of him. The most shameful part of it all is that he would have it no other way.
Sesshoumaru smirked as he closed the distance between him and the surprised miko. How strange it was that surrender felt as exhilarating as combat. His heart beat thundered in his ears as he gave in and pressed his lips softly. He felt her tense in shock as he drew her close his mouth slanting to explore her, to taste her, demanding a response. Victory was his when she melted into him, small hands reaching up to tangle in the silver hair at the nape of his neck.
Yes the secret to ensuring a conquest, was knowing when to begin.
