hmmm... your reasoning behind wanting to do a passover... is the exact same basic reason why I'm still catholic.
I like the ceremony. Sure they do it every week, but if you are like me, then you only get it like twice a year, but you can do it whenever you need to/want to.
I think my sister and Andrew were surprised that I was watching the Papel mass on CNN the other day. I may not agree with everything that the church puts out, but I understand the concepts behind it all... and besides, when do you get to see mass on Cnn? I digress.
Nothing makes me feel like I do after going to Mass and doing the kiss of peace and the old Hymns. Once they bring in all that new hippie worship music... I feel like something gets lost. I guess I'd prefer the mass in Latin than sing something like "Jesus is my buddy." Give me the Ave Maria, and make me kneel till my knees bleed, shake hands with a random stranger behind me and wish them peace, and then drink blood, and eat flesh, and tackle me if I don't. THAT's Religion.
yeah... if you take the body of christ from the priest you'd better damn well eat it or people are supposed to eye you suspeciously and tackle you so that you don't do something blasphemous to the holiest of holy.
Also of note, if someone poisions the wine, and they don't find out until after it transubstantiates, the priest has to take one for the team and drink the whole lot. Can't be tossing the blood of Christ into the sewer.
Also... is it bad that one of the reasons that I was enjoying watching the papel mass was because I was enjoying seeing the Pope look somewhat uncomfortable with the English... though he was still very fluent.
