So Wednesday I went to Aardvark and bought a new relase aid for my compound, which managed to be both comfortable and right for me, whilst also having the most wonderful and elusive property of purpleness. I tried it out yesterday and today and I love it. Also ordered some new arrows off the internet. Just need to figure out what longrod i'm going ( Read more... )

It's wits+composure isn't it? Roll em. In fact, roll Perception+Alertness for old times sake.

Awww, an old time WoDer.

I seem to recall its Alertness+Perception actually. Alertness being the Attribute and Perception being the skill. The attribute always comes first.

...did you just question my geek lore? Did you just question my WOD geek lore? In public? Damn girl, now you've gone and called me out. I'm going to have to answer that without checking the book.

So, I reckon it is 'Perception + Alertness', Perception being the Attribute and Alertness being the Ability. Neither Perception nor Alertness is a skill, but they are sub-categorised as a Mental Attribute and a Talent respectively. Alertness deserves a special mention, as up until the second edition it was used in calculating initiative, (or atleast it was in Wraith) but in subsequent editions Alertness was replaced in that respect by Dexterity, making one of the very rare occasions where two Attributes were rolled together. In even later editions, the simple add them together + 1d10 supplanted even that.

So nyeh!

Was going to respond with 'Non-roleplayer aleart! Somebody convert him!', but then I read the other comments and got well and truely confused.

Was going to post and say really, I'm not as geeky as these people, but then I remembered I left the house this morning after writing this post, trying to work out what my dice poll would be for an archery roll. (I realise you are not a roleplayer, so I'll just say I was being doubly geeky in attempting to both geek about archery and rollplaying at teh same time.)
