Out of My Elitist Face

If those words sound unfamiliar to you, or you've yet to read about David Wee and Wee Shu Min, you can do so hereAnd apparently the entire blogosphere is up in arms over what she said. It was Jie Yu who first alerted me to what was happening, followed by my mom who showed me a newspaper article that Ms Wee should be saying sorry. I'm going to give ( Read more... )

She's getting alot of flak now. Quite sorry for her given the fact that her A levels are upon her in less than a month, and that she probably screwed her scholarship chances already. Actually her point is valid. It concurs with the government's stand, and frankly it makes sense. Instead of whining, perhaps Derek shld attempt to improve himself. I guess the whole thing is working against her because of her social standing. Honestly, if the regular joe on the street had told Derek to "get out of his uncaring elitist face", people will probably not bat an eyelid. How often do the elites slip up? This is a chance for everyone who has long loathed the concept of elitism to bash the system, or rather the products of an elitist education system. I am perhaps just sorry Shu Min has to suffer the brunt of an angry bunch of people. It just serves as another reminder that we have to toe the line being the socially perceived 'elites'. Yeah. I am ranting.

i think the whole issue has got nothing to do with who actually has more valid points.

what it all boils down to is how an academically competent daughter of a political figure can actually use a phrase like "get out of my uncaring elitist face".

from a taxpayer's perspective, she could jolly well be awarded a scholarship that's financed from their own pockets. thus i can understand why her insensitivity has caused such an uproar.

minor point: if a person has bad grammar, he'll always have bad grammar. you can't fault him for that no matter what newspaper he's trying to write to can you?

yes she actually do have a valid point and wat she said makes alot of sense, indicating shes a intelligent girl
but the way she express herself in the blog is way too insensitive..
classical example of having IQ but low EQ...
given her intelligence, she shld know her position in the society (being a politician's daughter) and be careful of wat she says..

now the focus think is shifting from her to the elitist in general..
she jus happen to be the unlucky 1 to start the war..
poor girl... hope ppl can give her a break... As starting 2molo leh
