Oh, Whiteling! That's super! The pencil work, detailed or soft where it's needed, is a pleasure to look upon. And the composition is so good for Vána. You've got nobility in her face, suited to one of the Valië, and keenness in her "glance", yet the "ever-young" is rendered in the perfection of her features and the fresh softness of her skin. Flowers spring up in the fabric of her gown, "and the birds all sing her coming" (right from her shoulder!--LOVE the work on their feet)
Thank you so much, Mechtild! I feel always very honoured when Tolkien adepts like you confirm that my interpretations are appropriate to the professor's descriptions. I still haven't made my way through the Silmarillion, but I love to read about Tolkien's universe of subcreation - those names and attributes fire my imagination tremendously! It's a perfect playground for artists of all kinds. :-)
Thanks so much, Aredhelebenesse! I, too, love the two birdies. *tickles their cute feet* :-)
Your icon is wonderful! (By the way, I meant to ask for some time if it'd be okay with you if I friended you back? I wouldn't like to miss any of *your* drawings!)
You are very welcome to friend me back! I didn't make a lot of new art lately, but I hope times will chanage and that I'll have a bit more time in the new year.
You are very welcome to friend me back! Done. Thank you! :-)

It's a special experience to draw the Queens of the Valar. I hope to do some more.

Those Queens of the Valar are such great invitations for any artist's imagination! Drawing them is like balm to my soul.

Have you read the Sil? I started once, found it very powerful but got stuck pretty early. The read's a bit terse... but I *will* read it, one day...
