There are all sorts of trends and rumors out now to kill the strike. The latest "we are so sorry" news post, the anti-Semitism rumor, the "postcards will be more effective" movement...
All in all, I'd say we're having an effect already. Go, LJ users! Power to the People!
Oh, one can always count on Teh Stupid (and the ugly) to rear its head.
See, this is why I adore you.
It's kind of instructive to see how people react to this. After all, all we're talking about not posting or commenting for one day. Yet I'm seeing all sorts of fear, rationalizations, and guilt in the LJ populace, and (my far-away favorite) the counter-strikes of the would-be strike stoppers, wanting to derail the thing. This should be a book
( ... )
Yes, so much turmoil because of one day restraining from using LJ... - it should be possible, no? However the users decide (to join or not join the strike), I think this action can give a clear signal to the new owners and that's the point. Idealists of all countries, unite! ;-)
Of course it's okay, EvFrodo. I'm glad you like the Frodo drawing so well. :-)
I'll wait and see if it is still alright for me to stay here on LJ. Changing to Insane Journal seems a good option though. I wouldn't want to lose touch with all you guys. Time will tell. :-)
Go, Whiteling! Anti-Semitist? Maybe it's talked about it the other places. I'll see. I take it the LJ owners are both Russian and Jewish (you can see how scanty my knowledge is of all this -- thank heaven for the informed people on my f-list!)?
I have to admit that I have neither the time nor the energy to read all the upcoming arguments/rumours/views, but the whole issue apparently causes quite a stir and that is a good thing IMHO.
