[mod post] Open Membership

Aug 04, 2010 18:13

So after having my ass thoroughly handed to me and being force-fed my own foot on the aphanon_meme last night, I've decided to remove the "moderation" aspect of joining this comm. Doujinshi is still posted under members-lock, but joining now takes all of two seconds to do, and you can leave the comm immediately after if you so please. No more PM's, no more ( Read more... )

Those anons (and some of the non-anons) were being entirely stupid and just as defensive. They got what they deserved.

It's not that hard to use your real journal, if you really want a scan then you jump through the hoops...

I'm ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED on reading what you wrote...about everything!
I can't understand how people can be so stupid and rude!
all those awesome scans you're sharing with us ARE YOURS! nothing force you to do that and you're so nice to do that the same way! and people ARE COMPLAINING about your way to do, or your passwords??? seriously GUYS! passwords are asy to understand, IF YOU USE YOUR BRAIN! but it's too easy to just click and take...you can't have time to use google...NOOO YOU CAN'T...
I'm very sorry for you, sweety é_è
I always admire and like generous people like you, who gladly share things with others...you have all my support!

What.

WHAT.

No, what those assholes on the anon meme don't realize is that you're taking the time and energy to scan and/or post these doujins (which you're supposed to technically be BUYING in the first place). But all they can do is bitch and moan that they're not getting their porn fast enough.

You have a complete right to do what you want with your doujins to prevent them from spreading or protect against bots or whatever. Don't listen to them. You're doing a fabulous thing by just posting these amazing doujins for us, don't cater to the whiners, especially those who don't have the balls to talk to you de-anoned.

I'm not here to start a fight and I was going to stay away from this, but I'd like to point something out here.

But all they can do is bitch and moan that they're not getting their porn fast enough. There's a problem with this. Doujinshi, in case you didn't know, is usually printed in VERY limited print runs. Usually if you don't get a hold of it when it comes out, you probably won't ever see it for sale again unless you're very lucky. Doujinshi is also an expensive hobby, so it really isn't possible for most people to buy every single book they want. And 9 times out of 10, when a foreigner buys doujinshi none of their money makes it back to the circle because they're buying from secondhand sellers, be it on ebay or Livejournal, or JPQueen or Mandarake ( ... )

Ah, no I wasn't aware. The doujin that I own were given to me by a friend after she spent a few months in Japan, so I'm not familiar with the specifics. Thank you for the information though. <3

Though the fact of the matter remains that the anons are still whining over something stupid like membership and passwords...and bitching about it on the anon meme to boot. *sigh*

No problem! It's kind of a case where if you don't buy doujinshi yourself, you probably don't know much about the doujin collecting hobby. Enjoying doujin by reading scans and enjoying doujin by buying it are different animals.

I agree that people who were whining just because it made them do a bit of extra work were being silly (though ngl not actually giving the password and just giving hints isn't really cool). I can't speak for anyone else on it, though, but the reason it bugged me enough to complain isn't because of that. Honestly I haven't seen anything here that I particularly want. My doujin tastes are peculiar compared to most of the fandom. My problem is with the attitude that goes behind doing something like that.
