OK as per your shoes... I would say neither... yet both.
Now... your other problem... I used to have that same problem... complete with my legs randomly giving out while I was walking. The baseline problem for me... my glutes were too tight and cutting off blood flow to my legs. Yes it can happen. Try using a hand held massager on your tail bone and glutes or go to a massage therapist and tell them to concentrate on that area.
Stretches you can do is curl into a ball then uncurl and stretching side to side. It took me two weeks of massaging the area and stretches to get the numbness gone. If i feel it coming back I do the regime right away to keep it from getting as bad as it was.
Hope you feel better and that works eases up on you about your shoes soon. *hugs*
Actually I know exactly what is wrong in the lumbar part of my spine. The numbness comes from the bone pressing on the spine at the wrong angle when I do stupid things, like wear heels or bend over.
If I could curl into a ball without screaming I'd try you stretches. :) Thank you for suggesting it though. I appreciate it. I do use massage to help keep the right hip from tightening up from the pain to the point of being frozen.
Chiropractor them maybe? And Any Dr (or Chiropractor) worth a grain of salt will tell you NO HEELS more than 1/4 inch.
I walked into my chiropractor's office with 2 in heels on and she made me take the shoes off so she could snap the heels off. XD Then I got a very stern lecture on the evil that is heels and a very painful adjustment... pretty sure she did that on purpose.
If you can't curl then just do the side to side. As a (former... let my license lapse) massage therapist I am a firm believer in massage and stretching.
It is a government job, so yes, I could. They'd probably just discipline me, but since they once fired someone for not going to HR five minutes before five I try not to push.
I got the Director's okay on them this morning. That means that I'm supposed to not have to get a doctor's note and anyone that says anything I should be able to say she said they are fine. We'll see what happens. This year's session for the lawmakers restarts tomorrow so they should be busy with that and leave me alone.

Yeah, heels are bad for you. I list them because half my office looks like runway rejects on a budget. Thus, you know, heels. :P
I stretch what I can and the chiropractor has helped a lot with my range of motion. Much better than crutches or not being able to walk at all.
