Mmm, dialogue. That's me being lazy - Zuko is easier when there's someone else there acting as his foil.

Also: Apologies for taking so long to respond; I had to run off to class just as your first comment pinged through to my email.

I can picture it-- Zuko trying to mingle with his people, then outing himself, then getting arrested for impersonating himself.

That part is definitely my favorite one. Its image was the strongest of this lot, and one I've had in my head (rather, Zuko getting in trouble for impersonating himself) for a while.

Sad. Really damn sad.

That seems to be a pattern in Sparky's life so far.

I don't know precisely how to explain it - I spent more time on this one, and it was definitely more difficult to write, likely because I have a harder time getting into Zuko's head generally. Part of it is that he's usually such a quiet character and part of it that I just haven't written him that much. (On the other hand, it's very easy for me to get into Katara's head.)

Since I did go into some detail with Katara's endbit, Zuko's was more an illustration of how I feel he copes through singlemindedness: Get the kids somewhere safe, deal with the task at hand, grieve later. I didn't accomplish that as well as I'd intended.

Very nice... I really liked reading Zuko's side of things. I think I liked the drugging part the best but I have to agree with Rashaka about a the tiny gap...

I see the gap, yeah. Now to figure out what to do about the thing. *wry*

Also, thank you :)

This was a bittersweet little fic - I really enjoyed the jail part (Katara? Shut up.) and Katara's interaction with Iroh. They brought an excellent bit of humor to this. Also, I appreciate you showing that if Zuko takes the throne of the Fire Nation, it isn't going to be easy. He's going to struggle, people aren't going to trust him, and yeah, people are going to rebel. Really nice!
