Oh wow, I really enjoyed this. I _just_ got done watching that Cloverfield movie, so I can totally picture all of the death and destruction that is probably surrounding them. I like the idea of the non-ending after Ozai is defeated. Yeah, he's gone, but Aang has a big job to do. I still don't get why Katara has to stay behind, though. I mean, it does sound like a grand adventure, going to teach new Airbenders... *wistful* Anyway, I really liked this. You captured the mood very well.

1. You have an awesome username.

2. Thank you tons and tons and tons :)

3. To tell the complete truth, I'm a novelist at heart - most everything I write that's longer than 500 words is written so it can either stand alone or be the setup for a larger piece. The idea's basically that Katara isn't into being shippy and :D rightthissecond, and that a couple years apart'll give both both kids the chance to grow up some so that they can then proceed to be shippy and :D.

(I definitely see them ending up together in this ficverse, too. :D )

I enjoyed that immensely. You have a knack for getting complicated emotions across in only a few words, and I really admire that about your writing. This piece was just wonderful!

Thank you very much. (The story's a reworking of one I wrote waaaay back in April of 05, and that was unbelievably melodramatic and is on its way to being stricken from existence.)

I always feel like I rely too heavily on dialogue, possibly because the stuff I read tends to lean heavily on description.

And also, to add in PS (something that came to mind in the last 20 minutes while I was driving) - artemisrae and I had talked, briefly, once upon a time, how vaguely air nomady Ty Lee was, and we came to what was more or less the same conclusion you did, I think: that Ty Lee could learn air bending, or had had an air nomad in her family tree somewhere up the line.

ANYWAYS. Just thought I'd share!

I've been maintaining for most of the series that while Aang might be the last Airbender, he probably isn't the last Air Nomad - It's nigh on impossible to fully irradiate a nomadic people. In hindsight, though, especially after the flashback episode combined with Aang's comment in Northern Air Temple (that Teo has spirit) - it's probably more likely that he's the last Air Nomad but not the last Airbender (which is kindof ironic given the show's title.).

There has to be something about the lifestyle of the Air Nomads that made it possible for 100% of their population to be benders - and I don't think it's a recessive but extremely common bending gene.

I'd seen the hypothesis that Ty Lee was Airbenderish before - the people were all snarky about it - but if anyone has a similar life-view to Aang, it's her.

I really liked this story, it's just bursting with potential for more and really left me looking to read more end-of-war fics. Would you mind if I rec it in my journal to further spread the love?
