Well as we in Australia have the Union Jack in the corner of our flag it means if the UK changes the flag then we will have to as well, I think New Zealand and a few other old British colonial Countries would have to change also.

Actually in Australia it might give more push to getting our own flag, its an idea that has been kicked around for years but most are loath to change the current flag.

The nation should have a flag that does not pay symbolic homage to a former colonial power, IMHO. A simple Southern Cross on a blue field (without the Commonwealth star) seems most fitting to me.

Sounds okay to me. Some people seem to be under the impression that it would be strange to make a move like that unless Australia became a republic -- but Canada did it, and very successfully.

Mind you, Hawaii still has the Union Jack on its flag...
