My ConFurence 6 video

Apr 24, 2015 11:32

I don't know why I never converted my old Hi8 camcorder footage of ConFurence 6 (1995) to a digital format before. It was my very first con, after all. I guess maybe one reason I didn't bother is that there isn't much of it - only about 5 minutes' worth. I of course intended to take a lot more videos, but I quickly found other things to do at the ( Read more... )

Indeed! Tucked away in the wardrobe in my room. ^_^ Hasn't been out in a good while, though - last public appearance was at a small house party in Brisbane in June 2001. At some point, I'm probably going to have to take Red out and about at some kind of furmeet - maybe even a con, someday, once I have my SL self brought into RL, as I'll definitely be wanting to show that off. ^_^

Wow! Thanks for posting that. That was my first real furry convention. There may only be 5 minutes of footage, but it sure brings back some good memories. I think you even caught me in the backround in one shot. I definitely recognize a number of people. I met so many cool people (you included) at that one. Many of those have drifted away.

It's pretty hard to fathom now that back then, that was the only furry themed convention and a large percentage of those in the fandom at the time were at that dingy hotel that weekend.

Steve is still around. I chat with him pretty regularly. Like many of us he has less hair than when that video was taken.

Yes, I thought I saw you in there! Do you maybe know how I could get in touch with Steve? I filmed his whole puppet show at CF6, and I transcoded that to mp4, too. I didn't include it in my YouTube video, though, because that performance was his intellectual property, and he should make the decision whether it is viewable to the public.

I'd be more worried that YouTube would flag the music used, but I can ask Steve. I see him most often in Second Life these days.

If you do speak with him, tell him I left him a PM at his Vixie FA account. He and I can get in touch that way. :)
