So I was killing time on WikiFur the other day, and just by accident, I was completely surprised to discover that someone I apparently don't even know created an article about me! Just for shits and giggles, I'd done a general search for 'plushlover', and this came up ( Read more... )

To be honest, I don't care much for the site, since my early memories of it are of one of its furry admins in whose LJ I made a single snarky comment that led to his vendetta when I tried creating an article about one of my very old fursonas with his attempts to defame said character when he could have just very easily deleted the comment I made. Then again, I've come to learn that furs tend to be really touchy about things more so than the general population (for instance, a satirical image I posted to DA got a single polite comment, but when I posted it to FurAffinity, it got a *lot* of toxic remarks), and while I'm still content with creating anthro art, I definitely don't want to be too open in the fandom and don't really consider myself furry since I'm in it mostly for the art and writing as long as either doesn't get topical, for instance, Kyell Gold's porn books.

I consider myself to be retired from the fandom, actually. But I didn't include that little tidbit in the article, because it's not uncommon for folks to come out of retirement later on for any number of reasons, and I didn't want to set anything in stone. Like, I retired from the fandom once before, in 1999, so I know from my own experience that people can have changes of heart with the passage of time. Could happen again, who knows? :-)

I was luckily able to have the old page about my long-retired fursona locked. One needs not be furry to appreciate anthro art and writing.

*whew* Searched my name & even a couple of my older furry monikers. Thank gods no one made a page for me. It likely wouldn't have been too complimentary. >.

There’s quite a few completionists on that website, people who like to acknowledge people who have left an impact or even just existed in the fandom. I got my own blurb many years back, I don’t know the person who create but for a brief period of time I decided to add to it… and then added to other people I knew who were on there but were missing information or needed updates.

Maybe I’m odd but I like the idea of knowing what’s happened to people who crossed paths with me and left an impact. Sadly many are starting to show up in the obituary section if not completely dropping off the grid.

Oh btw, I was checking out Sabot’s LJ to see if he’s had any updates and came across your comment then curiosity brought me here :)
