I just finished reading an excellent book, "Strangers in the Land". It was so good I just couldn't put the book down! It was a true story about a terribly persucuted, wealthy and famous family who lived in France. They were Hugonuots and were persecuted very much for their faith. the book you read sounds almost the same as a book I read about the Hugonuots. The book I read was called "The Wrath of the King". It was very similar to what you said but they didn't go to America. The daughter and older son where kidnaped and the twins where saved right in the act. There house was soon filled with solders and and almost demalished. This was a rich family too. The family was seperated. The mother died of stress from it all. ect...
