I just made this comment in some community. It's kinda ironc, since I have to take the ACT tomorow. *gulp*
We had the best cheating episode last year in english. Our teacher was terriable. She hated us, and we hated her. It was already announced that she was leaving in a few weeks (becasue the adminstration pretty much told her to "get the heck out of here".) She did everything she could to spite us...
Anyway, we got this exam and it was terriable. We looked through it and there was seriously about 15 out of 100 questions that we talked about in class. (Really. I"m not just saying that to justify what happened.)
Right though. It's exam day...and for some reason, the teacher isn't in class! (We found out later that she got sick and couldnt make it.) We were assigned some substitue teacher who was supposed to be pretty strict.
Near the end of class, the sub stands up.
"I need to go to the bathroom. I'll be back in three minutes." He held up three fingers, walked out the door, and shut it very tightly.
The class just looked at each other for a few minutes...and then it erupted. People jumped out of their desks to run over to there friends. There were groups of people comparing answers, discussing answers. Books started flying open and everyone flipped over to the glossarys/appendixes.
Two minutes and thirty seconds later, someone screamed "Quick, he's comming!"
Thrity seconds later, the sub returned to a normal, quite classroom of good kids taking their final exam.
We got the last word on that teacher. =)
Other than that though, I have cheated before. A few times people from the hour ahead of my class will slip me a copy of the test...which is cool, but I only ever get about 15-20 minutes to look at it during lunch period.
Heh, once somebody nicked a scantron that had a 98% on it. There were at least 20 people that had memorized the A-B-D-C-A etc. combination.
I think that cheating is wrong...but unfortuanly I tend to justify myself when I cheat. With a major test every three weeks, and quizzes every week...sometimes you don't get time to study, ya know? I think that cheating on little quizzes when you don't have time to study is alright, but only once in a while.
