Jess and I went to our normal Bagel shop for our sunday treat with her old boss and her husband. That was cool everything seemed ok for Easter and all of that. All of the shops were open on 23rd and so we headed out to washington square and Target, we have been planning to get some workout clothes since we bought a membership at 24 hour fitness ( Read more... )

it's not insane, liberal people believe in god too, and therefore they enjoy the day off to spend time with their families. it's not so black and white as you put it, Not every Conservative belives in god and not every liberal is atheist (show me one black liberal who doesn't believe in god). The holiday Easter is more important then Christmas to the entire Christian world (it's not just about chocolate, your missing the BIG picture). One man (Jesus) sacrificed his life for the betterment of man kind on this day (like every soldier in the military does to ensure our freedom). And our fore fathers of this county said we are a nation under god because they were very smart and rational leaders, most companies recognize this also and therefore give their employees this day off. People are given this day off because it is one of the most important days in the worlds history. Regardless if you believe it or not.

Yes, Easter is important to Christians...Christian's should be able to request the day off from work...just as is with Passover for the Jewish, Chinese New Year for the Chinese, and so on. The world already shuts down for Jesus on Christmas.

Saint Patrick did a lot for Catholics and the Irish...we should shut down the world for him...

"Saint Patrick (386-March 17, 493, see below) was a missionary and is regarded as the patron saint of Ireland (along with Saint Brigid and Saint Columba). He is also the patron saint of excluded people, engineers, and Nigeria, which was evangelized primarily by Irish missionaries, especially priests from Saint Patrick's Missionary Society (also known as the Kiltegan Missionaries)."

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Patrick to learn more about Saint Patrick and the many wonderful things he did.

I totally agree, i didn't say i didn't want Saint Patricks day off..haha when i was devout catholic he was my patroned saint (i know his story like the back of my hand) LOL...It would rock to have that day off. Ireland spends an entire week celebrating him, as well as they should because he did so much for them. But then the main argument goes to having a holiday for each saint, if you have one, why can't you have them all, they all did great things right?? that's the main reason why it's not celebrated by companies here in the USA. Their is one son of god, but hundreds of saints. So one major holiday for Easter and Christmas. And saint patricks day is celebrated ;)

Yes I know that not all liberal people don't believe in god and vice versa. I just think that maybe a majority of them don't. Just my opinion from what I've seen. I don't have any concrete evidence or anything. I've just noticed that a lot of gay/lesbians for example are liberal and most don't believe church and the established religion i.e. easter. Easter isn't a real holiday to me. It's used as an excuse to eat lots of candy.
