I, myself, prefer those short tailored leather jackets with a collar flap that buttons, to keep your neck and torso warm. Pockets on that jacket would be good. The half-trench coat style is in this season, in corderoy and satin - goes great with a chunky scarf or turtleneck sweater. And there's always the pea-coat...for that classic look. Don't think you have to get anything heavy; it's all about the material of the coat/jacket. Leather and wool are the warmest ( ... )

Yay, Maria! Your style knowledge lets me know that every little thing is going to be alright... because I was basically taking the approach that you can't be warm AND stylish... But I believe you and feel much better about the whole situation...

I'm finally getting the hang of layering and basically asked for tons of warm clothes for Christmas, but still need a few of the things on your list... liiiiike that Barbie pink hat you speak of!!! I did get some Disney Princess mitten gloves though that rock my socks off! <3 <3 <3

Whoever told you Texas doesn't get cold either lied, has never lived there, or lived there after living somewhere blizzardy (and it isn't cold in comparison). Why do you think I stayed in Hawaii? I hate the cold and Texas still gets too cold for me. As for surviving - I agree, scarf is critical, a beanie or warm hat is necessary, gloves help, and you can choose between layers or a decent coat. You could totally rock a pea coat. Also, having lived and worked in Austin, stay off the roads if you can. I may be a proud Texan (living in refuge in Hawaii) but they know nothing about driving on snow or ice and it is hazardous to your health. Much love. Much love.

Your knowledge of Texas-type things is good for me... At least because it affirms that I'm not crazy!

I don't blame you. Being back in Florida for Christmas, I have no desire to see the cold again. Yikes!

I'm starting to get the layering thing, but have yet to find a good coat :/ Hmmm... And I hear that it just gets colder in February/March?? You're about about people freaking out, though... We had snow flurries the other day and I was on 35 for like 3 hours. In flurries! Luckily that's about the only time that I've had to deal with snow and driving because I have no idea how to drive in it! I guess that makes me fit in with the other Texans? <3 <3
