I turned 28 last week. The birthday was pretty low-key, but awesome nonetheless. Tuesdays are always new beer night at Brendan's, so I capitalized on it. I showed up a little late after my nap went long when my alarm clock refused to go off as planned, but there was still plenty of time for fun. The usual crowd was there:
peterbeerslayer ,
dubheach ,
deckyon , David and Toni, and new rennie Tom.
aprilsnark was there in spirit. David brought me the book Blink, which we've been talking about forever. I haven't started it yet, but it's generally about the information your brain takes in during the first couple of seconds of a situation, and how we pick up information instinctively. Kate is making me a new cloak - YAYYYY!!!!! I also walked away with a full set of 8 Nightstalker beer glasses from Jon, David, and Brad (though they look suspiciously like wine glasses, which is how they will be used at my place.) The fun thing about new beer night is getting to keep the glasses. There was also cake and free dinner, compliments of Jon. I love my friends. Though I think we may have scared Tom a bit. **grin**
The manager was cool enough to send over a birthday drink. He brought it over himself, and when I asked what it was, replied "red-headed slut." And only THEN realized that since the last time he'd seen me, I had dyed my hair red. It was hysterical. There was blushing involved, I do believe. (My hair is not REALLY REALLY red, but the brunette dye I used really seemed to bring out the natural red I already had.)
And last weekend was dress rehearsal for faire. We open on Saturday - yikes!! Though I'm actually really excited. Rehearsal was starting to get a bit stale, since we were doing the same skits over and over and over....and over..... But it picked up Sunday afternoon, when we came up with some new stuff. There is now a version of the Bimbettes' chorus from Beauty and the Beast that ends with "such a tall, dark, strong, and handsome BRUCE!!" and a scene where Tom and I alternate fainting spells and somehow end up married. And yes, I get carried off over someone's shoulder AGAIN in that one. Lots of fun. Come see!!
www.kyrenfaire.com I have to chase the kids around at the YMCA tomorrow, and then we're taking them to King's Island on Wednesday. I've got a really fantastic group of kids to watch that day, so it should be a ton of fun. It should be a good week, and then after closing day next Tuesday, I'm done - WOO HOO!!!
